What is Parota and why do we use it?
Parota is a fast growing tree found in areas of Mexico, Central America, and the Northern area of South America. It is a highly sustainable tree as it grows rapidly, and harvesting them does not contribute to deforestation or harm natural habitats. In the first 5 years the diameter reaches 12" and ultimately can grow to 11ft . Parota have a lifespan of 15-30 years and can reach heights of 100ft. It is sought after for its grain patterns and deep amber colors. Over our years of travel to Mexico we formed a relationship with owners of a family owned mill and we were able source some beautiful salvaged wood from them and bring it back to Canada.
