Spring has sprung...
and another little project is done. I t**e the complete chair appart, sanded everything down, repaired all the broken pieces and gave him several coats of fresh clear satin varnish. The seat got replaced by Tradewinds Upholstery shop here in Quesnel.

Almost weekend, happy folks.

Of course as a cabinet maker I don't do only furniture or cabinets. The variety of jobs for me is almost endless as long there is wood involved. Below that was one of my jobs from end of last year. It turned out beautifully and it was a fun and interesting job to do.

The railings are solid oak, stained with 2 coats English chestnut and 3 coats of satin varnish and satin black spindles.

Happy furniture Friday and a Happy New Year folks.

With dropping temperature I will close my little shop over the next few months. Not a easy decision but I can't maintain temperature and humidity as good as in the warmer months of the year. I apologize for any inconvenience.

Happy Folks! There was lots of comments on this piece so I thought I would tell you more about it.

I finished my Möbelschreiner (Cabinet maker) apprenticeship in Germany back in 2009.
This sideboard, in European Cherry wood, was my final practical exam. It took me 2 weeks from start to finish because it had lots of criteria to that I would be graded on. It had lots of traditional joinery in it including , , and what we call in Germany a traditional drawer (no hardware, only wood). All the joinery was hand made using only hand tools. This project was a labor of love and I wonder if it thinks about me as much as I think about it ;) This is definitely a piece I want to build again.

Time to show a project I finished a while ago.
This Kids Rocking Chair came in with some imperfections, like scratches, dings, dents and a big crack. The old varnish turned yellow and the whole structure was loose.

I took it apart, sanded everthing down, repaired the crack and gave him 3 fresh coats of new varnish.

I really enjoyed that fun little project and it was nice to bring life back to this old piece.

Hi Folks! I've started my own business so I created this page to introduce myself and share some of the work I do.

In Germany I completed a three year apprenticeship to become a "Möbelschreiner". In Canada you would call me a finishing carpenter, furniture maker or cabinet maker.

I've spent the last 6 years working as a private Carpenter on a luxury sailboat that took me around the world. I've now settled in Quesnel and I'm looking for a few new projects to keep me busy.
