Yesterday's windstorm got us thinking about something most homeowners don't see until it's too late β what happens to a roof when the wind really starts to push.
A roof doesn't need to lose shingles to suffer damage. Strong gusts can lift shingle edges, weaken seals, loosen flashing, and create tiny openings where water can eventually find its way inside.
The challenge is that wind damage isn't always obvious from the driveway. What looks fine from the ground can sometimes tell a different story up close.
After a major storm, it's worth taking a quick look around your property. Check for shingles in the yard, pieces of flashing, excessive granules near downspouts, or anything that just doesn't seem right.
The good news? A well-built roof is designed to handle Northern BC weather. Proper installation, quality materials, and attention to detail make a huge difference when Mother Nature decides to test things.
Yesterday's storm was a good reminder that your roof works hard every single day β especially on the days we notice the weather.
