Mackenzie isn't just our home base, it's our community. And we really want to be a good neighbour.

Which is why we spend tens of millions annually, supporting local businesses, charities, and other organizations that make Mackenzie a great place to live.

Putting out a campfire properly isn't as simple as you might think... About 40% of all wildfires are human-caused, and unattended or improperly extinguished campfires are one of the most common ways they catch and spread. So how do you make sure stray embers don't venture away from your fire?

1. Cover the fire with plenty of water! Keep going until you can't hear any hissing.
2. Stir the water ashes and dirt together with a shovel or stick. If there are any logs or sticks in the fire, scrape at them to check for embers.
3. Repeat! Keep covering the fire with water and stirring until there's no steam and you can hover your hand a few inches above the ashes without feeling ANY heat.

Tip: Make sure to check under any rocks around your fire pit to ensure there are no embers hiding underneath!

Let's protect our forests and communities from wildfires this summer... 😊🌲

At Conifex, we're the next generation of Canadian forestry. That includes our belief in full fibre utilization. We use the branches, bark, and tree tops that other lumber companies abandon or burn to feed our biomass power plant in Mackenzie. Using that otherwise wasted material allows us to generate 230 GWh of green energy per year.

That's enough to power
βž” over 1 billion km of driving in an electric vehicle;
βž” 20,000 BC homes for a year; or
βž” all of Mackenzie for about 2 years.

40% of all wildfires are caused by humans, and many of those are entirely preventable. Some common, accidental human-caused triggers for wildfires, include:

βž” off highway vehicles
βž” campfires
βž” discarded ci******es
βž” fireworks
βž” agricultural or outdoor burning
βž” negligence

Hot, dry weather leaves all of us exposed to wildfires, and this season is shaping up to be a difficult one. Please be extra vigilant while you're moving through wild spaces this summer. And remember, if you see a wildfire, please report it immediately at 1-800-663-5555 (or *5555 from a cell phone).

Today is , and 2026's theme is "A Global Call for Climate Action."

We understand our responsibility to be good stewards of the forests we owe our living to. It's why we use every scrap piece of wood to generate green energy in our biomass facility, and it's why we practice responsible forestry practices, including planting trees. Over 66 million of them since our inception.

This World Environment Day is focused on climate change and how we can step in .

It's National Indigenous History Month, and did you know many of the sustainable forestry practices we use in the industry today originated with this land's first and best stewards, including selective harvesting and cultivated biodiversity through "forest gardens".

We work closely with the First Nations communities whose traditional territories we work and live on and are proud to use sustainable forestry practices in sustainably managed forests.

We acknowledge and honour the traditional territories of the Tse’Khene People whose communities include the Kwadacha Nation, Tsay Keh Dene Nation, and the McLeod Lake Indian Band, as well as the Dunne-za, NΔ“hiyawΔ“win Cree, and Anishnaubemowin Saulteau Peoples whose communities include the West Moberly First Nation, Halfway River First Nation, Blueberry River First Nations Band, Doig River First Nation, and Saulteau First Nations.

βž” Fuel 20,000 BC homes each year with our 36 MW biomass power plant
βž” Have planted over 66 million trees and counting...

Because we want to be good stewards for the land we live and work on. 🌲
