Bree's Sunny Seeds

Bree's Sunny Seeds Young woman with a disability has flower and vegetable seeds for sale. My name is Bree-Anna and I live in Prince George, B.C.

I have multiple disabilities but I don’t let that slow me down from having the kind of life I want. I don’t talk like you and I use a wheelchair to get around but I enjoy doing many of the same things you do. I love to spend time with my family and hang out with my friends, fishing, and going out to eat. But I also love to shop, and to travel to new and exciting places. In order to do those things

I needed to find a way to supplement my income. With the help of my parents I am developing Bree’s Sunny Seeds. My mom plants a lot of flowers and vegetables each spring and we will harvest these homegrown seeds so we can sell them to people like you. Sales of the seeds will help me be more independent and allow me to do more of the things I enjoy doing. I hope that by selling the seeds I can meet new people, learn about some new places and new opportunities that will help me to expand my world

A raised bed garden is much easier to manage when each bed has a simple job instead of mixing everything together randomly 🥕
🥬 I like keeping leafy greens and root crops together because they usually enjoy cooler weather.
🍅 Tomatoes and peppers do better in the warmest, sunniest spot, with room for air to move around them.
🌼 Marigolds are a nice add-in around vegetable beds, and they make the whole garden look more cheerful too.
🍓 Herbs and strawberries are great near the front where they’re easy to pick often.
💧 My biggest tip is to leave walking space and not overcrowd the beds, because a garden is easier to care for when you can actually reach everything.

The secret about Canada is… it’s not just one vibe. It’s a whole collection of them. 🍁🌎

Head west and it’s mountains meeting the ocean—rainforests, rugged coastlines, and that outdoorsy, adventure-first lifestyle that never really turns off. 🌲🏔️

Move into the Prairies and everything opens up—big skies, golden fields, and communities built on hard work, resilience, and a slower, steadier pace of life. 🚜

In Ontario, it’s a mix of it all—bustling cities, quiet towns, endless lakes, and cultures blending together in a way that just works. 🌆🌊

Slide over to Québec and the vibe shifts again—European charm, deep-rooted culture, incredible food, and a rhythm that feels completely its own. 🥐🎶

Head east to Atlantic Canada and it’s coastal living at its finest—colorful towns, ocean air, strong traditions, and people who make you feel like you’ve been there forever. 🌊⚓

And up north… it’s something else entirely. Wild, remote, and powerful. Vast landscapes, northern lights, and a kind of quiet that hits different. ❄️🌌

No matter where you go, you’ll find the things that make Canada feel like Canada—road trips that stretch for days, weather that keeps you on your toes 😅, a love for the outdoors, and people who carry that quiet pride wherever they are.

Canada’s got a lot of personalities.
But that strong, kind, “we’ve got each other” kind of energy?

Yeah… that’s what ties it all together.

Which part of Canada has the most character to you? 👀

While we are experiencing another day of the return of winter, with more snow flurries and daytime temps barely above freezing, it's still time to talk about starting our gardens. Today's topic is zucchini, specifically West Coast Seeds' Black Beauty variety. Here is their description:

The standard summer squash, introduced in the 1920s. Large bush plants grow semi-upright and open, and are loaded with glossy dark green fruits with firm creamy white flesh and fine flavour. Plants are productive very early, and over a long period. Best eaten when under 20cm (8" long). Black Beauty zucchini seeds are the best variety for freezing. Black Beauty zucchini is a 20th Century heirloom that won the All American Selections prize back in 1957. It was first introduced to American market growers in the 1920s, and was commercially available as seed from the 1930s on.

Loaded with glossy green/black fruits
Best if eaten under 20cm (8") long
Best variety for freezing
Open-pollinated seeds

It has been a couple of weeks since our last post, and, after what seemed like a steady move towards real spring, here in Prince George we got what is possibly the biggest dump of snow we have had all winter yesterday, returning us to full on winter. Despite the weather, we are preparing to start some plants in our basement grow-op. One of the vegetables that we are getting ready to start is Spacemaster Cucumber. Here is what West Coast Seeds has to say about this variety:

Spacemaster cucumber was developed at Cornell University for its highly productive, but very compact vines. Dark green, smooth skinned fruits grow to 15-20cm (6-8") long on individual stems that rarely exceed 90cm (36"). This compact growth makes them a superb choice for container growing or production in smaller gardens. Pick at a smaller size for crunchy pickles, or let them reach full size for slicing.

Matures in 58 days. (Open-pollinated seeds)

Good day everyone. We woke up this morning here in PG to sunshine and a fresh 1" layer of snow! Come on Spring! You can do it!

Today's post is about a new variety of marigolds that we are offering this year, Red Cherry. Here is West Coast Seeds description:

Red Cherry is an ornate, bi-coloured marigold. The yellow centres of these long-blooming flowers are framed by red petals that feature yellow edging. The foliage on the plants are full and grow 25cm (10") tall. Perfect for patio containers, beds and borders. Marigolds are great companion plants and act as a deterant for some pests.
