PA Pest Control - Your Qualified SGI Exterminator

Did you know that mice or other rodents can cause a lot of damage if they're living in your vehicle or trailer/motorhome? If you think you might have that issue, it's best to take care of that as soon as possible. Waiting just gives them more opportunities to chew through wires, go bathroom everywhere, and even have babies! Plus, deer mice are the primary carriers of hantavirus, which, although rare, can be fatal. Nesting, droppings, chewing, bad smells, or scratching noises are all signs that you might have a rodent issue.

We have lots of experience with SGI trailer and vehicle rodent claims. Whether you already have a claim or whether you've just found out you need to make a claim, give us a call! We're happy to answer any questions you have about what to expect and what needs to be done. Dealing with a rodent claim can be stressful, so our goal is to make things go as smoothly as possible for you!

Don't let rodents damage your property and put you at risk. Contact PA Pest Control today, we're here to help!

Have you heard of Hantavirus?

Thankfully, it’s very rare. Between 1994 and 2020, there were only 36 cases in Saskatchewan. But it’s also quite dangerous; 12 of those cases were fatal. Learning about it and what precautions you can take is the first step to being safe, not sorry.

Hantavirus is spread by mice, typically deer mice, and you can get infected by breathing in airborne particles from their droppings, urine, and saliva. Deer mice are easily recognizable as they have large black eyes and dark fur, except for their belly, which is white.

If you come across mice droppings, it’s best to get it cleaned up as soon as possible. If you’re comfortable doing so yourself, make sure to keep the area well-ventilated; wear gloves, goggles, and an N-95 type mask; and use some sort of disinfectant to moisten the droppings before wiping them up with a damp cloth. Alternatively, if you’d rather not deal with it yourself, we can come and do that for you.

In addition to cleaning up, you’d want to deal with the mice themselves. You can use live or snap traps to catch them; or if you don’t want to deal with the bodies, you can set up a bait station, which lasts approximately a year, depending on the activity level. To stop more mice from getting in, do a thorough inspection for entry points, checking the entire perimeter for holes mice can get through, and then sealing them. Again, these are services we offer.

If you find droppings, nesting, or other rodent signs in your vehicle or RV/trailer, give SGI a call. It might end up being a rodent claim. If so, once that’s been approved and we’ve been hired, we would exterminate all the mice, then do a very thorough inspection and cleaning, checking for hidden damages and decontaminating the entire vehicle to make sure it’s safe to use.

Whether you don’t want to risk getting sick, or you’re just not a fan of mice, you don’t have to worry. Taking care of pests like these is exactly what we’re here for. Give us a call today at 306-970-2428 or comment below to get more information.

PA Pest Control's Essential Tips for Protecting Your Home, Yard, and Vehicles from Pests During the Snow Melt Season.

As snow melt begins, pests may start trying to enter your living spaces. Here are some tips to help keep them out:

For your home or building:

-Seal up any cracks or holes in your foundation, walls, and windows to prevent pests from entering.

-Watch for signs of pest activity, such as droppings, gnaw marks, and tracks.

-Be careful when cleaning up mouse droppings, as they can carry diseases like hantavirus. Wear gloves and a mask, and avoid stirring up dust.

If you notice any signs of pests, consider reaching out to a professional pest control company for assistance.

For your yard:

-Clear away any debris, such as fallen leaves or branches, as these can provide hiding places for pests.

-Keep your grass cut short and bushes trimmed, as overgrown vegetation can attract pests like rodents and insects.

-Remove any standing water around your yard, as this can attract mosquitoes and other insects.

-Make sure your garbage and compost bins are covered and away from your home, as they can attract pests like raccoons, rats, and other rodents.

For your RVs and vehicles:

-Keep them clean and free of food debris, which can attract pests.

-Check for signs of pest activity before and after using your RV or vehicle.

-If you notice any signs of pests, consider reaching out to a professional pest control company for assistance.

At PA Pest Control, we're here to help you keep your living spaces pest-free.

If you need assistance dealing with pests in your home, yard, or vehicles, don't hesitate to reach out to us for a free consultation.

DIY Bed Bug Inspection: Signs to Look for and How to Check for Bed Bugs Yourself" by PA Pest Control!!
Bed bugs can be a serious problem for homeowners, causing itchy bites and disrupting a good night's sleep. However, detecting a bed bug infestation can be challenging, as these tiny pests are expert at hiding in small spaces. While it's always a good idea to call in a professional pest control company for a thorough inspection, there are steps you can take to inspect for bed bugs yourself.
Here are some signs of bed bugs to look for during your inspection:
1.Bites: Bed bug bites can appear as small red welts, often in a line or cluster. They are usually found on exposed skin, such as the face, neck, arms, and legs.
2.Bloodstains: Bed bugs feed on human blood, and as they feed, they may leave behind small bloodstains on sheets, pillowcases, and mattresses.
3.Fecal matter: Bed bugs also leave behind f***l matter, which looks like small black or brown dots. You may find these dots on sheets, mattress seams, and other areas where bed bugs may hide.
4.Bed bug shells: As bed bugs molt and grow, they leave behind their old shells, which look like translucent, empty exoskeletons.
5.Musty odor: Some people describe the odor of a bed bug infestation as musty or sweet. If you notice an unusual smell in your bedroom, it could be a sign of bed bugs.
If you suspect that you have a bed bug infestation, here are the steps you can take to inspect for bed bugs yourself:
1.Strip the bed: Remove all bedding, including sheets, pillowcases, and mattress covers. Inspect each item carefully for signs of bed bugs, such as bloodstains, f***l matter, or bed bug shells.
2.Check the mattress: Inspect the seams, tufts, and folds of the mattress for signs of bed bugs. Use a flashlight to help you see in dark areas.
3.Inspect the bed frame: Bed bugs may also hide in the bed frame, so inspect it carefully for signs of bed bugs.
4.Check other areas: Bed bugs may hide in other areas of the room, such as furniture, baseboards, and electrical outlets. Use a flashlight to inspect these areas carefully.
While a DIY inspection can be helpful, it's important to remember that bed bugs are notoriously difficult to eliminate on your own. If you do find signs of a bed bug infestation, it's best to call in a professional pest control company to ensure that the problem is eradicated completely.
At PA Pest Control, our experienced technicians have the knowledge and tools necessary to detect and eliminate bed bugs from your home. Contact us today to schedule a consultation and get started on the road to a pest-free home.
