We first heard about the Music Hall project through Rod Stewart, and were immediately interested in being involved in any capacity. It went on to become one of the more rewarding projects we’ve been part of, working alongside an exceptional group of companies and individuals.

Our scope included heritage masonry consulting, with design and material specifications for the parapet and pediments developed from historic photographs of the music hall. These elements were reconstructed on site by Clifford Group’s team of masons and apprentices, with careful attention to laying and tinting the brick to integrate seamlessly with the existing structure.

While Clifford built the parapets and pediments on site, our team fabricated cornice moulding, brackets, and reproduction windows at our shop in Port Hope working with heritage consultant Craig Sims.

It was a privilege to contribute to bringing this piece of Port Hope history back and we look forward to the next phases!

Duties will include assisting production at all levels in our 9000 sf wood shop in Port Hope as well as assisting in in-town and out of town job site installs. Monday-Friday, 40+ hours, $25-35 to start. Must be punctual, professional, motivated, and have a valid drivers licence.

Applicants must have working knowledge/experience of basic wood shop tools including jointer, planer, mitre saw, fixed router and table saw, as well as basic hand tools such as circular saw, hand held router, drills, nail guns, etc. Experience in woodworking is necessary, experience building windows and doors is not, but it is an asset. Spray finishing experience is also an asset.

Historic Brick Company is a Port Hope firm specializing in historic masonry. Seeking an experienced and motivated individual who can join our team immediately, and help with a full slate of projects for 2021.

The ideal candidate having experience with both heritage and new build projects, will be comfortable working independently or as part of a small team, and be able to take on a leadership role working alongside apprentices and labourers.

General construction knowledge is also an asset.

Requirements:

Minimum five years experience in the heritage masonry field
Working at Heights
Clean driving record
Clean criminal record
Additional certifications such as forklift, telehandler, skidsteer or elevated work platforms are an asset but not required.

Compensation

Wage range of $25-$35 depending on experience and qualifications
There is the opportunity to work plenty of hours, and tradesman consistently work all year. Compensation package will be highly competitive for the industry and will depend on experience, qualifications and overall suitability for the position.

450 Pape Avenue - (1902)

100 years of foundation repairs, each time with the newest and greatest. Portland cement? Mortar in a caulking tube? We carefully removed all of this by hand with carbide chisels and replicating the original fine black mortar bead we found protected by the porch.
