Very happy to have found this for a customer in Cayuga, before the problem caused more damage than it already has.
The gas range hood vent was venting into the attic, and not outside. This was causing excess grease and moisture in the attic and on the trusses/ sheathing, which will eventually lead to wood decay and possible mold. It could also lead to a fire with build up of grease and smoke in the attic. Signs of wood decay were already present. Some of the trusses were even splitting already.
The issue was properly corrected, the pipe was vented outside, and trusses repaired.
Another good reason to get your home inspected!
