General Contracting or Design-Build, what's the difference?

With General Contracting, the design comes first, usually from the client's own architect, and we build to those finished drawings. It's a strong fit for clients who already have a design team in place, like HUB by Conwest Developments in Port Coquitlam, where we self-performed the full concrete tilt-up build from approved plans.

With Design-Build, we're involved from the start, working alongside the design team to align budget, timeline, and constructability early. It's often the better fit for complex builds, especially when tenant improvements or manufacturing-specific needs come into play.

Neither is better, it depends on what the project needs. That's why we offer both.

We've been busy this summer.

From progress at The Grid in Port Kells and MDZ Maple Ridge, to McConnell Centre in Burnaby nearing completion, to multiple other sites across the Lower Mainland just getting underway, our crews have kept the momentum going all season long.

Every project looks a little different, but the approach stays the same: show up, do the work right, and build something built to last.

Here's to what's next.

Checking in on progress across the Lower Mainland.

From a slab pour, to early groundwork, to steady progress on another active build, our crews are keeping busy across multiple projects this season.

Different sites, different stages, same commitment to doing it right.

We're excited to introduce our latest project, MDZ Maple Ridge.

Located in the heart of the Maple Meadows Business Park, this two-storey industrial building will bring 1,151 square metres of new space to the area, including 963 square metres of industrial space on the ground floor and 188 square metres of office space above. The building will feature concrete precast panels with formliner accents and reveals, along with storefront glazing along the street frontage, designed to complement the surrounding developments in the park.

Sitting just south of Lougheed Highway and east of the Golden Ears Bridge, the site offers easy access to Port Kells and Highway 1, with downtown Vancouver about 45 minutes away, a strong location in a business park that has seen steady growth over the years.

We're proud to bring our hands-on, honest approach to this project and can't wait to share updates as construction gets underway.

🛠️ Happy National Tradespeople Day!

Every panel poured, every frame built, every detail finished, it all comes down to the people doing the work. Our tradespeople bring their skill and pride to the job site every single day, and it shows in everything we build.

To every tradesperson on our team, thank you. You're the reason Capo's name means something in this industry.

Great buildings start with great partnerships, and over the years, we've built plenty of both.

For more than 30 years, Capo has worked alongside some of the most respected developers in British Columbia. These are the kind of partners who don't just hire us once, they call us back for the next project, and the one after that.

That kind of repeat trust says more about a company than any single build ever could.

To every partner who's put their trust in us, thank you for building alongside us.

The details you don't see are the ones that matter most. 🛠️

Ever wonder how a tilt-up building actually goes up? At The Grid in Port Kells, you're watching it happen in real time.

It starts on the ground. Concrete wall panels are formed and poured flat on-site, reinforced to handle the loads they'll carry once standing. Once cured, each panel is lifted into place with a crane and braced until the structure ties everything together.

At The Grid, that process is well underway, with panels going up on this new industrial development for Conwest Developments. The scale of the panels, the timing of the lifts, and the coordination between crews all have to line up, and after more than 30 years specializing in this technique, that's exactly where our team excels.

Tilt-up remains one of the most efficient ways to build high-performing industrial space, and projects like The Grid show why we've stuck with it since day one.

This is what progress looks like.

What started as footings, formwork, and open ground at McConnell Centre in Burnaby has become a nearly complete two-storey, multi-tenant warehouse development for Arc Projects, with finished glazing, exterior façade work, and tenant spaces ready for lease.

Every Capo project moves through the same stages, it just takes time, precision, and a team that shows up every day to get it right.

Performance starts with how a building is designed, not just what it's built from.

At Centre Point One in Port Coquitlam, we worked with Nonni Property Group to deliver a business complex built around efficiency from the ground up, featuring high-efficiency LED lighting across flexible industrial units ranging from 4,058 to 30,000 sq ft. Every detail, from an internal loading courtyard to full turn-key delivery, was designed to work smarter, not just bigger.

Modern industrial buildings have to meet today's environmental and efficiency standards. That's the approach we bring to every project, Centre Point One included.
