Spring is fast arriving and our calendar is starting to fill up already. Please call 250-619-1081 or message to book your spring and summer maintenance. Some ideas for spring care are:
Lawn Care
Well-kept lawns that are being cut regularly throughout the spring growing season will keep it strong. The healthy blades of grass will shoot up and overpower the weaker ones, creating a thicker, stronger lawn overall over time. You’ll notice even grass growth as well because keeping your lawn at a uniform level will allow nutrients to pe*****te the soil evenly and help new grass to grow. You’ll also see a quick recovery in your lawn when faced with insect infestations or difficult weather due to its increased strength from regular cutting.
New Lawns
Spring tends to be a good time of year for planting many different kinds of grass due to the season’s combination of rain, sunshine, and warming temperatures
Fertilizing
Most plants, lawns, trees, and shrubs will benefit from proper fertilization with a slow-release product
Control Weeds
Apply pre-emergent w**d control for w**ds such as crabgrass.
Yard and Bed Cleanup
Rake the old leaves and debris from plant beds
Apply Mulch
Mulch not only makes planting areas look neat, but also helps to retain moisture in the soil, keeps roots cool in the summer, and insulates them in the winter. As mulch decomposes, it adds organic matter to the soil.
Pruning and trimming
Pruning in spring makes way for more growth and helps to encourage more flowers, foliage and colourful stems on a wide range of plants. Spring pruning also means you can ensure your shrub has a nice shape, while giving you the opportunity to cut out dead, diseased or dying stems. After pruning, mulch plants with a generous layer of garden compost or well-rotted manure, to give them a boost
