So now that the cold weather has passed and now we have this crappy spring like weather. With the left over snow and the rains in the forecast. I hope everyone has been checking their sump pumps and discharge pipes to make sure they are working correctly and pipes are cleared out (hooked up) to avoid flooding of basements. Also if your downspouts for eve-troughs need pipes put back on to move water away from the house this is the time to do it.
Happy spring everyone.

Just a reminder. Going to be a cold one again tonight, so turn up the heat to keep pipes warm and run some water before bed to help well line from freezing up

With this extreme cold front and winds I would suggest raising the temperature inside of your house. And for sinks on outside walls I would suggest opening the cabinet doors to let heat in.
Frozen pipes are happening now.

Leak repaired the best it could be without ripping up asphalt driveway to remove big rocks that were backfilled over the piping.
Drain line was installed over the top of water line made things that much more difficult. Not much thoughts in planning during this original install.

Removing tree stump to repair water main underneath it. Fun nerve wracking job. For January 22.
Finally got tree stump out with a lot of caution not to pull on the roots and disturb the main water line coming in from the street.
Big thanks for Scott Harrison Excavating and (Morley) for taking the time to help with this project. I know they have been out late at nights and early in the mornings to plow all this beautiful white stuff. Now to repair the line tomorrow morning.

With the recent weather forecast prediction today would be a good time to check sump pumps and piping to make sure they are working and ready for tomorrow.

So I had a call to look at a leak in an overflow on a tub today in a triplex recently renovated by “professional contractor and plumber”. After checking out the overflow found it wasn’t fastened to anything. So removed the vanity so I could cut the wall open to repair and this is what I found. I got asked the question if that just came apart or if it’s been that way since install????
Second picture.
So I go to the basement to look for a trap that is suppose to be before the kitchen sink on the second floor (yes thats right) to humour the customer I go down to look for one. This is what I find when I go around the corner. Can some one tell me if there is a way to tighten something up or plug this 15 year old water heater? Yes I got that question also. So wasted 3/4 hr for confirmation to change water heater. But did I find a trap? No it’s not suppose to be there to begin with.
So never made it to the jobs I had planned for today.
My rant for this hot day!
