Landscapers & Homeowners — I genuinely want your feedback! 👇
As a small business owner, I'm always trying to find better ways to grow while keeping my marketing respectful and professional.
One thing I've started doing is leaving a lawn sign after completing a job—but only with the homeowner's permission. My thinking is simple: if someone likes the work we've done, maybe their neighbours will notice too and know who to call when they need similar work.
That said, I know everyone has different opinions, so I'd love to hear yours.
🏡 Homeowners:
Would you allow a contractor to leave a lawn sign on your property for a few days after the job is complete?
If yes, what would make you comfortable saying yes?
If no, what would be the biggest reason? Privacy? HOA rules? Appearance? Something else?
Would a discount, gift card, or future service credit make a difference?
🌿 Fellow landscapers and contractors:
Do lawn signs actually bring you new customers?
How long do you typically leave them out?
Do you ask every customer, or only certain ones?
Have you noticed a real return on investment?
What other marketing has worked better for you—Google reviews, Facebook groups, door hangers, referrals, flyers, yard signs, or social media?
I'm still learning what works best, and I'd rather hear from people with real experience than guess. Every successful business started somewhere, and I'm always looking for ways to improve while respecting my customers and their properties.
