Your heat pump will usually warn you before it fails completely. Here's what to watch — and listen — for.

Unusual noises like grinding or squealing point to mechanical wear. Poor heating or cooling that's gotten worse over time often means low refrigerant or a dirty coil. Ice on the unit in summer, or a system that runs constantly without hitting your set temperature, are both red flags.

The sooner you catch these, the cheaper the fix. Don't wait until it stops working entirely.

DID YOU KNOW?

Your outdoor air conditioner needs at least 2 to 3 feet of clearance around it to operate efficiently.

Overgrown shrubs, weeds, fences, and debris can restrict airflow, forcing your system to work harder to cool your home.

Keeping the area around your AC unit clear can help:
✔ Improve energy efficiency
✔ Reduce wear and tear
✔ Support better cooling performance
✔ Help prevent unnecessary breakdowns

A few minutes of outdoor maintenance can help your system perform better throughout the summer.

Your AC is running but the air coming out is barely cool. It's one of the most frustrating HVAC problems — and usually one of a few things.

Start with your filter. If it's clogged, your system is starved for airflow. That alone can stop your AC from cooling properly.

If the filter is fine, look at your outdoor unit. If there's ice on the lines, you may have a refrigerant issue or a frozen coil.

Some causes are DIY-friendly. Others need a technician. When in doubt, give us a call before a small problem turns into a full breakdown.

Does your home feel more humid in the summer?

If your home feels sticky or uncomfortable even when the air conditioner is running, excess indoor humidity could be the reason.

High humidity can:
✔ Make your home feel warmer than it actually is
✔ Cause your AC system to work harder
✔ Reduce overall comfort

Common causes include restricted airflow, dirty filters, or an air conditioning system that isn’t removing moisture as efficiently as it should.

Regular HVAC maintenance helps keep your system running properly and can improve both comfort and humidity control throughout the summer.

Have you checked your furnace filter lately?

Replacing your furnace filter before cooling season starts is one of the easiest and most affordable ways to help your HVAC system perform at its best.

A clean filter can help:
✔ Improve airflow throughout your home
✔ Support cleaner indoor air
✔ Help your AC system run more efficiently

When filters become clogged with dust and debris, your system has to work harder to move air, which can affect comfort and energy efficiency.

A few minutes today could help your home stay cooler and more comfortable all summer long.
