So excited to see this garden come to life!

Just one year ago, this entire backyard was filled with invasive Himalayan balsam (Impatiens glandulifera). We rolled up our sleeves and dug it out by hand - the most effective way to reclaim the space & remove invasives.

Then came the transformation. Using the lasagna gardening method, we layered newspaper, compost & mulch to build healthy soil naturally. Finally, we planted more than 45 native species with a vision of creating a thriving habitat for pollinators and a beautiful space for people to enjoy.

Today, that vision is taking root. Every bloom, buzzing bee, and fluttering butterfly is a reminder that restoring native landscapes is worth the effort. Here's to watching this garden grow and welcoming all the life it supports!

It’s Foxglove time!! Foxglove (Digitalis) symbolizes the duality of nature, representing both healing and poison. Culturally, it is deeply tied to fairy folklore and enchantment. Ecologically, it serves as a vital resource for pollinators, though its highly toxic compounds act as a natural defense mechanism against herbivores.

Building a 375 sq.ft. pollinator garden has been a multi-year project, and it's exciting to see it taking shape!

Last year was all about preparing the space - laying down cardboard to suppress weeds, then adding layers of compost and mulch to build healthy soil.

This year, the fun part: planting party! We've added more than 45 species of pollinator-friendly flowers and native grasses, creating habitat and food sources for bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects.

It's still early days, but we can't wait to watch this garden grow, fill in, and come alive with pollinators & gorgeous blooms over the coming seasons.

We planted Wild Lupines in one of our client’s garden when we first launched our business 10 years ago. They are enormous now - almost 5 feet tall & 4 feet wide!

We started our business based on the philosophy of re-wilding landscapes, with a focus on designing gardens with native plants that benefit pollinators such as the endangered Karner blue butterfly, which relies exclusively on this host plant - Lupinus perennis.

We are thrilled to continue working with Mother Earth - thank you for all your support these last 10 years!

PSA: Now's the time to pull garlic mustard! Please take 10s out of your day, to pull any that you see. These babies are now flowering and soon to produce such an abundance of seeds. We found a wee garlic mustard forest on one of our sites - likely grown from just a few garlic mustard plants that spread their seeds here last year. Now's your chance to remove it in your yard or out in the community along trails and in parks.

It's a great time to have a look out for Dog Strangling Vine (DSV) on your property while there may still be some open spaces while we wait for all the perennial plants (and unwanteds) to emerge.
Check out this video for some tips on how to identify it now, as it is only just emerging from the ground in our area.
