Poly B is generally uninsurable by many standard home insurance providers due to the high risk of catastrophic failure, this is a huge risk when purchasing an older home.

Over time, oxidants and chlorine present in municipal water supplies degrades the plastic resin from the inside out. This causes the pipes to become brittle and resulted in devastating cracks, leaks, and sudden bursts.

Early Poly B systems often utilized plastic fittings that were prone to snapping due to degradation.

You can identify it with the usual grey color of the piping but if you have any doubts, you can try reading the identification markings on the pipe.

Grease.... Hair.... It's the main cause for all your issues.

Remember, don't dump grease down the drain. When you can, use a hair catcher to avoid clumping and causing a blockage.

Winter weather reminder ❄️

With all the snow and temperature swings lately, we’re starting to see ice dams forming on roofs. Ice dams happen when melting snow refreezes at the roof edge, trapping water behind it. That trapped water can sneak under shingles and cause leaks, water damage, and even mold inside the home.

A few simple ways to help prevent them:

• Keep gutters clear of debris
• Make sure your attic has good insulation and ventilation
• Safely remove heavy snow buildup when possible
