🌱 A different kind of lawn for the Okanagan.
This project started with removing an old, very w**dy lawn, bringing in fresh topsoil and carefully grading the area before seeding with our Bourdeaux Blend — Okanagan Ecological Lawn Mix.

These plants aren’t just mixed together for appearance — they work together.
The deep-rooted fescues provide a tough, drought-tolerant lawn. Micro clover fixes nitrogen from the atmosphere, helping feed the soil and surrounding grasses naturally. Yarrow develops deep roots, handles heat and drought exceptionally well, and helps create a more diverse, resilient lawn ecosystem.
The result is a lawn designed for our hot, dry Okanagan summers — one that can dramatically reduce water use compared with a conventional lawn, while also reducing the need for synthetic fertilizers.
Because healthy lawns start with healthy soil.
After seeding, I cover the lawn with a specialized germination fabric. It helps protect the seed from our very enthusiastic local birds, reduces w**d pressure, retains moisture and moderates soil temperature while the new lawn establishes.
Once germinated, the fabric comes off and the lawn takes over.
Less water. Less fertilizer. More diversity. A lawn designed for where we actually live.
