🌧️ WATER IN YOUR ATTIC… BUT IT HASN’T RAINED?
It might not be a roof leak at all.
During our cold Canadian winters, warm, moist air from inside your home can make its way into the attic. When that warm air hits the freezing-cold underside of your roof, the moisture can condense and freeze.
Then we get one of those warmer winter days… ☀️
That frost melts — and suddenly you have water dripping inside your attic.
That’s ATTIC RAIN. 💧🏠
And if the conditions causing it aren’t corrected, that excess moisture can contribute to:
🔴 Wet or damaged insulation
🔴 Mold and mildew growth
🔴 Wood rot
🔴 Ceiling stains and drywall damage
🔴 Costly repairs down the road
The good news? Attic rain is often preventable.
Proper attic insulation, air sealing and ventilation all play an important role in keeping warm household air where it belongs and allowing your attic to breathe properly.
If you’ve noticed frost in your attic, damp insulation, water stains on your ceiling, or unexplained dripping during a winter thaw, don’t automatically assume your roof is leaking.
