, Roberta Kirkwood was a member of the Elevator Safety Advisory Committee for the province of British Columbia as well as a member of the appeals board. She has since been reappointed to the Safety Advisory Board. Unlike many other elevator-providers in the region, Kirkwood Elevators is licensed and registered with the provincial authorities for elevating devices in B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, the Yukon, and the N.W.T. In addition to these licenses, we also hold elevator mechanic licenses for Ontario as well as the states of Washington and Oregon. These licenses act to ensure that we perform each and every installation to the highest standards of safety and quality. As part of their extensive experience in the elevator business, Dwight and Roberta Kirkwood owned and operated a successful company in the lower mainland, manufacturing and installing elevating devices from 1971 to 1991. In 1991, they sold their manufacturing company to Concord Elevators Inc. based in Ontario, but still remained very involved in Concord Elevators by taking on the lead roles of vice president and regional sales manager. In 1999, they decided to relocate to the interior and establish what has become Kirkwood Elevators LTD. All of our equipment is non-proprietary, which means that once an elevator/lift is installed, any licensed elevator-contractor can service it – you are not “locked into” a service-contract with any one service-provider. Kirkwood Elevators has installed units as far south as Puerto Vallarta, as far north as Fort McPherson, Y.T., and as distant as Anguilla in the British West Indies. Dwight Kirkwood, the president and C.E.O., has also been instrumental in performing on-site training for many dealers across North America. At Kirkwood Elevators, we have the freedom to search the world market to find the equipment that exactly fits your needs, and we are not locked into the products of any sole manufacturer. During the past 40 years, we have installed units from the simplest of stairway lifts to the most gorgeous custom units.
