Probably going to have everyone and their dog comment on how they would have taken this tree down differently. But before you comment, let me explain why I did what I did. After I ran all the scenarios, I decided there was no way in hell I was going to stay strapped to a giant uprooting tree that was nearly at a 45-degree angle and could also possibly barber chair. Climbing to the top was a no-go for me too because my tie-in point was not nearly high enough. If I had climbed to the top of the tree, I would’ve been just as high as my tie-in point. So if the tree started failing from the base, I would have had a bone-breaking swing back. There was also a structure I had to miss so I couldn’t fall the tree at the base. End result was I had to take a hammer top.
