Judy McGrath Landscape Photography Photographer/writer Judy McGrath, Pakenham, unique five arched stone bridge which is the only one of its kind in North America

Photographer/writer Judy McGrath spent 25 years living in and documenting the High Arctic and Labrador before moving to the historic village of Pakenham in the Ottawa Valley in 1994. Charmed by the every changing landscape of the Valley it has been an adventure exploring and capturing unique moments of its beauty. Pakenham is the home of the unique five arched stone bridge, spanning the Mississipp

i River, which is the only one of its kind in North America. Built of locally quarried stone in 1901, it replicated a wooden bridge of the same design which was damaged each year by ice. The stone bridge, having been weakened by truck and other traffic, was restored and reinforced in 1984 with each stone put back in its original position and the bridge deck proudly continues to be the width for horse and cart.
