Update on my drying method:
It was slow drying in the cubes, so I scraped it out onto parchment paper. Drying quicker now.

My first Japanese Indigo fresh leaf extraction!! Took a lot of notes to improve the steps taken. This took me 10 days. Very messy near the end. It will probably take a week or two for those cubes to dry. I am also drying leaves for the heated process. Need to harvest more leaves this week for my next extraction. Can’t wait to dye some of our linen skeins.

As we harvest the flax, we get to enjoy the blooms and growth of the dye and herb garden. Experimenting with the luffa vines this year and I have a luscious growth of Japanese Indigo. Our mascot this year is the garden spider.
