On October 11th, for International Day of the Girl, Ontario Skills hosted an event with exhibitors, workshops and guest speakers at the Science and Technology Museum in Ottawa, ON.

Lar-Mex's Wadia was asked to represent women in the trades. Wadia set up an interactive booth, for the high-school girls to demonstrate plumbing materials. Wadia was also asked with short notice, to guest speak about her experience in the plumbing industry along side her work experience with Lar-Mex.

Thank-you to Ontario Skills for hosting this wonderful event and to Wadia for representing your trade and inspiring the new generation of female graduates to join the trades'.

Each year, September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Tomorrow honors the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process.

We invite you to join us in reflecting and honoring the strength and bravery of residential school survivors and remember the children that never returned home.

Young Women's Conference 2023

The Annual Young Women’s Conference took place on May 2nd at the Toronto Congress Centre. The conference reaches 2,000 young women from across the province. The conference had over 300 young women registered for the Francophone Conference in grades 7-12. Lar-Mex's very own Wadia joined a discussion panel on stage along side two students in OYAP (Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program), a millwright and cabinet maker, and a tradeswomen Electrician from Ottawa.

Thank-you Wadia for speaking at this wonderful event and raising recognition on women in the construction workforce!

In 1960, “Women in Construction Week” was introduced in honor of the National Association of Women in Construction. Through the celebration of women in construction, and numerous efforts of the association, many more women have taken the step to venture into the construction industry. Causing the stigma around women working in construction to reduce drastically.

Today we want to recognize the hard-working women of Lar-Mex! Melissa works on our Sheetmetal Crew and Wadia on the Plumbing crew. Thank-you for taking part in breaking the stigma and the dedicated work you both provide daily to contribute to Lar-Mex’s core values; Innovate, Inspire and Lead.
