We're looking for a gardener to join our team. We are a soft-scaping company with a focus on edible and sustainable landscaping.

We carry out residential and commercial garden maintenance, clean-ups and garden installations.

QUALIFICATIONS

*Candidates must have landscaping/gardening experience and a valid driver's license.*

Experience in gardening, landscaping and/or tree planting.

Knowledge of small power tools such as sod lifters, leaf blowers, hedge trimmers and other small gardening power tools.

We are looking for someone who can work independently or within a team.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Duties include weeding, deadheading, planting, pruning. Soil and mulch installation. Spring and fall clean ups. Complete garden installation starting from sod lifting, soil amendment, planting and mulching.

Use of some hand and power tools and handling of gasoline and oil.

This work requires standing, crouching, kneeling and heavy lifting as well as working in different weather conditions such as rain, cold and heat.

Thought I’d share this bacterial phenomenon we found in the garden. Huitlacoche in Mayan or Corn S**t. I prefer the Mayan name. 😁 A bacteria that gets into the corn a morphs it into this weird looking but edible fungus. The fungus also gives the corn more protein content.
Oddly enough I just learned about this Huitlacoche from my friends who had it in their garden and had eaten it in when they were living in Mexico. Then low and behold, there it is in my garden.
At first, I was scared of this creepy frankencorn and threw it on top of the compost pile. The next morning I rescued it from the compost pile and cooked it up. When will I come across this again? How can I pass up a sought after food? How can I pass up food, period?
Verdict-not too bad at all!

Beautiful Adobe Sombrero Echinacea. Such a vibrant colour. Excellent for attracting pollinators, they were buzzing around and checking out the flowers before i even planted it!
