Small investments can make a big difference!

How do solar panels work? ☀️

Plants have been capturing the sun's energy for millions of years, converting it in to chemical energy. With solar panels, we can capture the sun's energy immediately and convert it to electrical energy. Think of it like an LED (Light Emitting Diode) in reverse. Starting with the sun's light, the solar panel absorbs the photon and creates a voltage which we can use to power our modern world. An inverter then converts it to AC (alternating current) power. From there, this energy can be used to power the building or be fed back into the grid for others to use.

Of course, it's not sunny every day. Wind and battery storage projects can make up the difference and balance the grid.

Solar panels are a steady source of power, with an output that only varies by 4-5% from year to year. In May 2026, OREC projects generated 644 MWh, our best month ever for solar production!
