Skyview 2 is the largest battery energy storage system in Canada. Our team has been working closely with our partners at Barton Malow to ensure this project has been met with the precision and timeliness that is required on a project of this size and scale. With collaboration across both our construction and materials groups, we were able to seamlessly tackle this project with a highly integrated approach from start to finish.

We’re proud to support the Ottawa Community Housing - OCH Foundation’s Build Your Path program - an initiative helping local residents explore careers in construction and trade's environments. As part of this support, we provided personal protective equipment (PPE) to program participants, including hard hats, safety glasses, cut-resistant gloves, ear plugs, and vapour and particulate protection masks.

We are proud to recognize and congratulate Jeff Stanley on an outstanding milestone: 35 years with Tomlinson. We had the honour of presenting Jeff with his 35-year jacket, celebrating his longstanding dedication, industry knowledge, and many contributions to our company.

Jeff began his career at the Moodie Scales, where he worked as a scale operator and quickly became known for his strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to supporting both customers and operations. In those early years, Jeff assisted with everything from creating haul rates to assisting customers, while ticketing major projects, including a section of Highway 416 and the Palladium interchange. His experience and leadership later led him into roles in Truck Dispatch and as Scale Supervisor.

With the opening of the Stittsville Quarry, Jeff moved into Aggregate and Asphalt Sales, where he used his customer relationship skills and deep product knowledge to build trust and long-standing relationships with customers. Throughout his career, Jeff has also played an important role in training scale personnel on four different scaling software systems. He served as a subject matter expert during the first stage of Tomlinson’s SAP implementation and helped launch APEX ticketing across our scales, supporting improvements that have had a lasting impact on our customers and operations.

Today, we are very pleased to recognize Lyall Steele for 25 years of dedicated service to Tomlinson!

Lyall’s experience goes back many years, well before Tomlinson acquired Graydex back in 2012. Throughout his career Lyall has built an incredible amount of knowledge across the business - Holding many key roles bridging dispatch, health and safety, purchasing, estimation, technology and many other areas, giving him a strong understanding of our operations and opportunity to build many great relationships to help foster change as a trusted Subject Matter Expert.

In 2017, Lyall joined the SAP team, bringing his many years of experience to help us build our foundation for the construction divisions on SAP. Since then, he has been part of every go-live we have gone through. Lyall's broad experience, strong relationships in the business, and willingness to jump in and help have made him a valued teammate and a trusted source of knowledge for the team and business.

Lyall, thank you for your 25 years of commitment, hard work, and leadership — we are very lucky to celebrate this milestone with you.

Our Environmental Services shop is looking for a Lead Hand 310T Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair, and service mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems and components of vehicles while providing guidance and technical support to other technicians. This role offers the opportunity to work in a modern shop environment that services both diesel and Natural Gas–powered (CNG) Class 8 vehicles, making it a great fit for a mechanic interested in expanding their skills and taking on new technical challenges within alternative fuel technology.

As Mental Health Month comes to a close, we are sharing some of the conversations and the connections we’ve strengthened together, and the impact these actions hold beyond the month of May.

This year’s theme surrounding connection and coming together reminds us that none of us have to face mental health challenges alone, and that sometimes it is the small actions that make some of the biggest positive impacts on others. The everyday moments, like checking in with one another, creating space for open dialogue, and embracing change together, are just as powerful in fostering a culture where everyone feels supported, valued, and connected.

As always, our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is available for our team and their families should they require assistance, and offers free, confidential support with mental health, stress, family concerns, and other life challenges. We are excited to celebrate Gage Cote’s remarkable milestone of 15 years with Tomlinson.

Gage, one of our younger yet highly skilled loader operators, has made an incredible impact on everyone he has worked with. His knowledge and team spirit have proven invaluable to his crew members and the company as a whole.

Gage’s journey began with Greenbelt, where he quickly learned the ropes by absorbing knowledge from his peers. His eagerness to learn and grow allowed him to master his skills rapidly. Today, Gage is not only an expert loader operator but also a mentor, passing on his knowledge and experience to newer team members.
His colleagues know him for his good sense of humor and his ability to bring a positive energy to any situation. He is the kind of person people naturally gravitate towards, making him a likeable and essential part of our team.
