Celebrating a GOHBA finalist spot for The Spencer at Greystone Village!

Part of eQ Homes' Greystone Village community, master-planned by Hobin Architecture, The Spencer is a nine-storey boutique condominium that combines contemporary design, spacious suites, and panoramic river and city views.

With thoughtfully integrated amenity spaces, landscaped surroundings, and strong connections to the adjacent neighbourhood, the building delivers an elevated residential experience while contributing to the ongoing revitalization of Ottawa's riverfront.

Another GOHBA finalist recognition for ECHO Canal!

ECHO Canal is a boutique mid-rise rental residence overlooking the Rideau Canal in Ottawa's Old Ottawa East. The seven-story building features 53 luxury suites, thoughtfully designed amenities, and architecture inspired by the Prairie School movement, creating a refined living experience that connects residents to both nature and the city. The project reflects a commitment to design excellence, sustainability, and community building.

A special full circle moment.

The Hobin team recently spent a day volunteering with Habitat for Humanity Greater Ottawa at the Nantes Development in Orléans, helping bring the final 2 homes of this 9-home project one step closer to completion.

Being able to help build homes we first designed over a decade ago, while contributing to a project that continues to support more families finding a place to call home, made this experience especially meaningful.

Three GOHBA finalist recognitions for Colonel By Contemporary!

This three-storey family residence combines contemporary architecture with exceptional craftsmanship, creating a home defined by elegance, functionality, and attention to detail. The kitchen blends warm wood cabinetry, richly veined natural stone, a generous entertaining island, and a concealed w**e room to create a refined yet inviting gathering space.

Connecting all three levels, the custom staircase pairs seamless waterfall detailing with glass guards and a visually lightweight form, enhancing openness, natural light, and spatial flow throughout the home.

A milestone worth celebrating!

We recently joined the team for the topping-off celebration of Ryse, marking the completion of the final concrete slab poured by Morley Hoppner.

Located in the heart of Westboro at 1950 Scott Street, Ryse is a 22-storey mixed-use development set to bring 243 residential units to the neighbourhood.

A big thank you to our client, Colonnade BridgePort, and Morley Hoppner - the project’s Construction Manager, along with all the consultants and project partners who have contributed to this exciting milestone.

Wateridge Village Rental Flats has been named a GOHBA finalist!

A collection of boutique three-storey apartment buildings designed to deliver a refined rental experience within Ottawa's Wateridge Village neighbourhood. Featuring spacious, light-filled suites with contemporary finishes, private balconies, smart-living technology, and barrier-free accessibility, the buildings prioritize comfort and convenience.

Landscaped pathways connect residents to a central amenity hub with fitness, social, and outdoor gathering spaces, fostering a strong sense of community.

Hobin takes on Calgary! 🏔️

Our team headed West for a few days of architecture, team-building and adventure.

We explored Calgary through tours led by Trevor Boddy, including a closer look at UCalgary SAPL at the Valentine. Visited Heavy.experience to learn more about their work across Calgary and Canada, and took on an architecture-inspired game of Telephone.

At DIALOG’s Calgary studio, we learned more about the restoration of the Glenbow Museum and the new Calgary Event Centre that they're currently working on with HOK, before heading out for a tour of the Calgary Central Library, an impressive collaboration with Norway's Snøhetta.

Team members also had the chance to explore Alberta in different ways on their "free day", from a 95 km bike ride with 1,010 m of elevation, to hikes at Lake Louise and Sulphur Mountain, a visit to Banff and a round of golf at Silvertip in Canmore.

From the city to the mountains, Calgary gave our team plenty to explore, learn from and bring home with us!

A great day on the course for a great cause!

Hobin team, Marc Thivierge, David Anderson, Laura Clark and Cameron Deans recently joined the OCH Foundation’s Annual Charity Golf Tournament at GreyHawk Golf Club.

For more than a decade, the tournament has brought the community together to support programs that help children, youth and families living in Ottawa Community Housing reach their full potential.

We’re so proud to sponsor an event that continues to drive positive change in our community.

“Housing is a Human Right. Build It.” This year’s World Architecture Day theme is one that hits close to home.

Over the years, we’ve had the opportunity to design affordable housing that puts access, sustainability and community at the centre. Mosaïq Ottawa 1, designed in collaboration with the Ottawa Community Housing, is one example. Completed in 2021, the development transformed an aging collection of townhomes in Little Italy into 140 new homes, with Passive House design certification and a focus on creating a safe and inclusive community.

The work continues with Mosaïq Ottawa 2, currently nearing completion and adding another 274 affordable, sustainable homes to the community.

Across 16 developments with various affordable housing providers (including Gladstone Village Phase 2 with Ottawa Community Housing, now in its design stage), Hobin Architecture's work represents 2,373 affordable homes - rooted in the belief that everyone deserves a place to call home, and that architecture has a role to play in building it.
