Concrete intelligence, from a five-truck trial to a full fleet.

We're so excited to announce that Viola Ready Mix is now taking Giatec MixPilot™ fleet-wide, from an initial five-truck trial to all 83 vehicles, while onboarding Giatec SmartMix™ to modernize how their team manages mix design and submittals!

Viola operates the largest concrete batching plant in Canada, running some of the highest-spec ready-mix work in the country out of Markham. For more than 40 years, they've supplied the municipal, residential, and ICI sectors across the GTHA, with plants in Brampton, North York, and Milton.

"Nobody else in Toronto has this right now, and we've always looked for ways to set ourselves apart. Taking MixPilot fleet-wide finally gives us the truck visibility we've wanted for a long time. We can manage every mix instantly, right from our fingertips. It's basically QC on wheels." – Eric Barbosa, President, Viola Ready Mix Inc.

A corrosion mapping test gives you a snapshot. On its own, it doesn't tell you how much service life is left, or whether your last repair actually worked. Our latest blog looks at how to connect that field data to the decisions that matter most.

Producers dose admixtures to the milliliter, then leave the single largest ingredient in the mix, roughly 75% of it by volume, managed by feel.

Our latest blog looks at aggregate optimization: why proportioning sands and stones well means less cement and water to hit strength and workability, and why getting it wrong quietly forces producers into cement buffers that pad every cubic metre. Two producers cut cement without touching spec: Trio Ready-Mix saved about $3/m³ across 34% of production, and Tomlinson cut 35 kg/m³ in six weeks.

An 11-month deadline. Zero room for delays. Waiting 3 to 7 days on lab results for every slab release decision was never going to work.

That was the reality for BESCO on Alameda Central Stage 2, a 22-level social housing project in Lima built under Peru's Techo Propio and Crédito Mivivienda programs. SmartNow-Lab brought in SmartRock to replace destructive testing with real-time, maturity-based strength monitoring, and the results moved the entire structural cycle: 3 days saved per slab, a 32% faster average release time, and zero concrete rejections due to insufficient strength.

The gains went beyond schedule. Real strength data let the team cut cement content by up to 15% and reduce field-cured cylinders by 90%, adding up to an estimated $120,000 in direct savings and a project Mivivienda later held up as a model for the sector.

More people on payroll won't fix your scheduling problem. The right people on the right project will.

Mallorie Brodie, CEO and Co-Founder of Bridgit, joins this episode of The Construction Revolution Podcast to unpack why she sees the industry's workforce challenge as a skills problem, not a headcount problem, and why that distinction should reshape how contractors plan. We also cover the shift from whiteboards and regional silos to real organization-wide visibility, and how contractor attitudes toward new technology have moved from resistance to genuine excitement.

Jeremy Croell, Co-Owner, Croell Incorporated, was skeptical: how accurate can an in-transit slump sensor really be? So, his team ran hundreds and hundreds of side-by-side tests against physical slump cones. The results blew them out of the water.

Conewago Manufacturing runs six plants and manages nearly 1,000 active mixes. Before SmartMix, a single mix analysis took up to an hour. Now it takes about 10 minutes. That's 12 hours back in a QC manager's week, and a 25% drop in testing volume. See how they got there.
