A quick trip to the cottage yesterday to check on things. Happy to see the Thyme beds are protected by a thick blanket of snow. ❄️ They’ll have a head start in the spring. 🌿

Herbal Maker will be at The Pepper Pod’s Open House and Holiday Market on Sunday, November 24 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at 35 chemin Nordik in Chelsea.

Support local vendors, check a few gifts off of your list, and then warm up by the bonfire.

It’s a great opportunity to learn about this wonderful retreat centre for women veterans. It’s a very special place.

December 21st, 2023 10:27 p.m. Eastern marks the winter solstice - the longest night of the year. As of tomorrow the days start to get longer, though it is the beginning to our cold winters. Days of early darkness, cozy blankets and warming fires. A time to be still. To plan and ponder. To go inward. And a time to dream of the warmth (and gardening!) to come.
Take a moment tonight to be still, perhaps light a candle, to mark the end of autumn and the beginning of winter. Happy solstice, all.

Everybody’s put to bed for the winter.
At this time every year I panic a bit - which plants will survive? Will I lose any? It’s dropped down to -16 C with very little snow covering. Then I remember - the plants know cold. They know how to survive - despite my “help”. 😉💚
