"Close enough" isn't in our vocabulary 😎

Third Line is taking shape, and the details are where this one gets fun.

🔨 Hardie shingle and board and batten going vertical.
🔨 Hemlock tongue and groove soffit up (stain coming).
🔨 A custom scribe against the stone because some details are worth the extra time.

Justin used Flatstock to template the cut - one and done, perfectly tight to the masonry. The kind of detail that isn't always asked for, but is always worth it.

We're excited to show you the reveal. This one's going to be special!

Catching Bill in the act! 😉 🔨

Day 3 of carpentry and Bill's been absolutely crushing it. We surprised him on site today - caught him mid-layout on the uppers, and the kitchen is really starting to take shape!

Here's what's locked in:

✅ All cabinetry removed + electrical roughed in
✅ Upper cabinets fully installed
✅ Fridge surround with gables + fillers going in
✅ Layout dialed in, gaps accounted for

Countertop templating happens later this week. Then next week it's spray painting, counters, plumbing, and backsplash - in no time at all this will be a finished kitchen!

What's better than a straightforward scope, solid timeline, and clients who'll be genuinely happy when we're done? Not much! 🤠

🧱 Ranking every siding we install!

We work with vinyl, metal, engineered wood, real wood, and fiber cement - and honestly, they all have a place. The question isn't which is "best." It's which fits your budget, your climate, and how hands-on you want to be with maintenance.

Here's what matters:

✅ Durability in Ottawa winters - fiber cement (James Hardie) wins, but engineered wood punches above its weight
✅ Repairability - wood products let you patch and paint; vinyl and metal? You're likely replacing the whole section

Real talk: cheaper doesn't mean it'll last. And expensive doesn't always mean it's right for your house. We've seen vinyl siding last 25 years on well-maintained homes and fiber cement that needed work in year 10 because of poor installation.

The install matters as much as the product.

So here's our question - what's your priority? Lowest upfront cost, longest lifespan, or easiest to repair down the road?

Catalina is teaching us something important! 🧠

When tiles keep cracking, the problem usually isn't the tile - it's what's underneath! Past HVAC work had compromised the floor joists, creating flex and movement where there should be none.

Here's what we did to fix it 👷

▪️ Installed cross beams to help stabilize the kitchen subfloor
▪️ Eliminated the flex - this floor solidity is increased and built to last

Upstairs main bathroom is nearly functional. Accent shower tile is in, plumbing reconnected, fixtures mounted (after we caught a spacing issue from the design process and got the electrician back out to adjust).

That's renovation life - spot the problem, call the right person, move forward!

The lesson? A cracked tile isn't always a tile problem. Sometimes you need to look deeper. 🕵️‍♂️

This was a big one. Full kitchen gut, new flooring throughout the main level, and a total reimagining of how this space works for the homeowners.

Here's what we did:

✅ Custom hood fan - modern, clean, breaks up the stainless
✅ Custom Carpentry
✅ Coffee station + dedicated pantry with microwave nook
✅ Wood-look polyester doors with light uppers for warmth and brightness
✅ Quartz countertop with beautiful veining
✅ Squared backsplash tile with tons of movement and color
✅ Champagne bronze hardware, fixtures, and faucet throughout
✅ New main floor flooring - kitchen, dining, powder room
✅ Wainscoting in the dining room to finish the space

Same layout. Completely new kitchen. The details here - that custom hood, the hardware choices, the carpentry details, the tile - they're what turn a reno into something you actually love living in.

This was a big one. We completely gutted the kitchen, redid all the flooring on the main level, and made everything work harder for the homeowners.

Here's what went in:

✅ Full kitchen gut + main floor flooring refresh
✅ Coffee station + dedicated pantry with microwave area
✅ Custom hood fan - modern, clean, breaks up the appliance feel
✅ Optimized storage - new drawers + garbage pull-out
✅ Polyester wood-look doors for warmth + light finishes everywhere
✅ Quartz countertop with beautiful veining
✅ Squared backsplash tile with movement and color variation
✅ Champagne brown hardware, fixtures, and faucet throughout
✅ Wainscoting in the dining room to finish the space
✅ Powder room refresh

Same layout. Completely upgraded materials and function. The wood-look doors bring warmth, the light finishes keep it clean, and those champagne brown accents tie everything together - k***s, handles, fixtures, faucet, all of it.

Project Catalina - Day one energy! 🔨

This one's shaping up to be one of our biggest of the year, and we couldn't be more excited to walk you through it.

What's happening? 🤔

✅ Kitchen layout shift - removing upper cabinets above the peninsula for way more light
✅ New cabinetry throughout the kitchen
✅ Popping floor tiles + failing grout - full demo underway
✅ Structural subfloor assessment - rebuilding solid so you don't have to think about it for the next 20 years
✅ Main bathroom upstairs - full gut happening
✅ Removing all flooring, vanity, relocating toilet, new tub
✅ Bulkhead removal + flush ceiling install - so much cleaner
✅ Subfloor work dialed in to prep for future hardwood transitions upstairs

The goal here is simple - more light in the kitchen, a bathroom that functions like it should, and a foundation (literally) that's going to hold up for decades. Catalina is off to a strong start!

One honest note - mixing MDF doors with an existing oak frame means a visible texture difference up close. Dealbreaker? That's up to you. Most homeowners don't look back.

Same kitchen. Smarter kitchen. 🤓

This is what a NorthCo Kitchen Update looks like in 2026 - keep what works, replace what doesn't, and make every decision count.

Here's what we did:
✔️ Cabinet boxes kept + painted
✔️ All new doors + hardware throughout
✔️ New countertops
✔️ New LVT flooring
✔️ Replaced and added depth for far-side cabinet box
✔️ Added a brand new cabinet on the far wall - functional storage where there was none!
✔️ Microwave has a proper home now. It's thriving.

No gutting. No unnecessary demo. Just intelligent decisions that add up to a kitchen that looks and feels completely different!

We keep what we can and replace what we need to - that's renovation done right, and we're proud to be part of how this industry is evolving 😎 👍

This two tone renovation is almost done! 🔨

Things are coming together fast. Matt and Bill have been putting in the work, and this kitchen is starting to look like a kitchen again 😍

Here's where we're at:

✔️ Cabinet prep + masking done
✔️ Hood fan vent wrapped + headers going in
✔️ Uppers getting sprayed - solid finish on top
✔️ Lowers staying wood-look Melamine with a polyester finish - clean, durable, and looks the part
✔️ New flooring throughout the main floor
✔️ Baseboards in, transitions + nosing done at the stairs
✔️ Rotten subfloor from last time? Fixed. Bathroom is plumber-ready.

Two-tone kitchens are having a moment right now - and the wood-look lower + painted upper combo is one of the sharpest ways to do it. Warm and clean at the same time.
