Quick update on this condo shower repair. 👷🏾‍♂️

We’ve got the new drain installed and the pre-slope in place, making sure everything is properly pitched toward the drain before moving on to the next stage.

Scratch coat going over the wire mesh 👌🏾

I’m applying the parging, then scratching grooves into the surface to give the brick veneer a stronger surface to bond to when we install it.

Good prep makes all the difference before the brick even goes on. 🧱

This bathroom was renovated only about 3 years ago, and now the shower is leaking into the unit below. Once we opened it up, we found the old drain connection was still there, so we had to remove the lower section of tile and the shower base to get access and repair it properly.

This is why the details behind the finish matter just as much as what you can see on the surface.

While completing other work at this home, I noticed that the existing concrete porch stopped approximately five to six inches too short and didn’t extend properly past the post.

This repair wasn’t included in the original scope of work, but I couldn’t leave it looking unfinished. I drilled Tapcon screws into the existing concrete to help mechanically anchor the new section, installed the form, poured the concrete, and extended the porch to where it should have been—all at no additional cost to the homeowner.

Don’t Parg Your Foundation Until You See This

If your foundation is cracked, crumbling, damaged, or the old parging is starting to fall apart, this video shows how we properly prepare and parge a foundation from start to finish.

We grind down the high spots, remove all loose concrete and old material, clean and prepare the surface, apply bonding agent, install fiber mesh, build up multiple coats of mortar, and finish everything off with a sponge for a clean, even finish.

Preparation is one of the most important parts of parging. If the surface underneath is loose, dusty, or damaged, fresh mortar can eventually crack, separate, or fall off.
