It is essential that we acknowledge zoning minimum requirements for what they truly represent: discrimination against low-income individuals and minorities. Requirements such as acreage, road frontage, square footage, and notably 'Wetlands' in my situation, which exclusively impact me despite being situated on the highest ground and not affecting neighboring properties as they contuine to develop ,cut and burn a provincially significant wetland not the buffer, serves as a means to prevent 'undesirable' individuals from moving into the neighborhood and occupying smaller homes or homes on wheels. In a country grappling with a severe housing shortage, exorbitant home prices, and a lack of available new homes, it is crucial that PNB initiate discussions about how zoning laws are exacerbating rather than alleviating issues. Zoning laws operate at local levels of government, and local officials must be held accountable as homelessness rates escalate and numerous individuals are forced to reside in cars and tents despite maintaining full-time employment. I have previously brought these concerns to the attention of my MLA, Kris Austin, who represented the People's Alliance Party and later the Conservative Party. Furthermore, during his tenure as Minister of Public Safety three years ago, he disregarded the NB Power safety issue, which took 17 months to resolve and was only addressed after The Daily News Group publicized the matter. Additionally, he has neglected environmental concerns that have adversely affected my personal and business life while I endeavored to provide affordable housing options for less desirable populations. Mr. Austin, as my MLA for this area, I am publicly sharing these concerns and urging you to implement changes that should have been addressed three years ago. If not, I will await my opportunity to present my case to the crown in court. Three years and still counting the days. Time for change, time for fairness and accountability.. PLEASE SHARE.
