In Loving Memory of Monica van Maris 🌿🤍
It is with heavy hearts that we honour the life and remarkable legacy of Monica van Maris, one of the founding members of Parklane Landscapes.
In 1958, Monica and her husband Casey began building not only a beautiful family, but also a business, Parklane Nurseries, that would leave a lasting impact on the landscape industry. Together, while raising their six children, they planted the roots of something truly special.
Monica was a trailblazer in the landscape industry, becoming Landscape Ontario’s first female board member, treasurer, and President. Her dedication and leadership were later honoured through the Monica van Maris Green Professionals Woman of Influence Award, established in 2018. Beyond her professional achievements, she generously devoted her time to her church, community, and countless volunteer initiatives.
Yet, among all her accomplishments, perhaps her greatest pride was her family. A loving mother to six children, grandmother to 25 grandchildren, and great-grandmother to 19, with three more on the way, Monica was affectionately known as Oma. She remained the heart of her family, keeping generations connected through her love, strength, and unwavering dedication, especially following the loss of her beloved Casey.
To Monica’s children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family, our hearts are with you during this difficult time. We hope you find comfort in the incredible legacy of love she leaves behind and in knowing how many lives she touched.
At Parklane Landscapes, we are forever grateful for the foundation Monica helped establish and the values that continue to grow from it.
The strongest roots leave the most beautiful legacies. 🌿
Thank you, Monica, for the family you nurtured, the industry you helped shape, and the generations you inspired.
Forever remembered. Forever appreciated. Forever part of Parklane Landscapes. 🤍
