I had this client approach me about acquiring this dining room table. They expressed how they wanted it made to fit her dining room, and her large family gatherings for the holidays, so it had to be able to extend to 10 feet long, from a 5 foot long table. The table was also to be constructed from a pine tree they had cut down on their property that had special meaning to them. The table we came up with has an apron that pulls out from one end to lay out the extension base and fold down legs. In order to not have to store one large table top extension or multiple smaller extensions, we decided to make one large one that sits on top of the main table when it's not extended. When you want to extend the table you just simply lift it out of the locked in position and lay it down on the pull out extension base, and you have a 10 foot table in a matter of a minute. This table was stained and then coated with Osmo polyx-oil hard wax oil to help protect it from water and everyday use. I'm glad I was able to help my client and deliver them their dream table right before Christmas, so they can enjoy their family dinner for the holidays together at this table, along with their dog at their feet.
