A 3 week catch up, its early August and the fall rush has begun early this year. We'll try and keep up on facebook!

- A drainage improvement project for a local municipality. Improving the ditch bottoms and correcting bad slopes. Coupled with lowering and installing new culverts for 4 approaches. As you can see, there was over a foot of invert height change in one of the culvert heights. Pretty hard to ignore that!

- Quick backyard final grade before topsoil.

- Underground project up in Slave Lake. A couple of catch basins and storm lines run. Elevations and catch basin core holes were calculated on site and drilled on site.

- Foundation dig, septic tank and sewer lateral install, cistern and water line install, power service install, and of course build the road in all in 3 days. And then the two days of rain began. Should have this one finished up tomorrow and try to get back on schedule by the end of the week.

Weekly recap: the week of all the little cleanup things that just had to get done.

Monday-Tuesday: Existing wrap around driveway removal and make it look like it was never there.

Wednesday: Clear edge of bush for new build going up.

Thursday: Pick up materials for road project, pic of one of the loads of culverts.

Friday: Install power service for a client, backfill foundation, and cut in rough grade for construction.

Saturday: The perfect rainy day to finally stockpile some sand in the yard for underground work. Driving out to the pit is about 45 minutes west of the city. So we take advantage of the rain and usually bring it to our yard to save valueable hours when we need it the most.

Weekly recap:

Videos in the comments! Cannot add pictures and video in the same post I guess.

Monday & Tuesday:
- Lay out and staple down geotextile fabric, gravel approach and driveway

Trying to get all the cleanup jobs done now that the rain has finally stopped for a few days. Don't worry it rained all sunday night so we played in the mud anyways. Returning to this one for a septic mound build in the next couple weeks hopefully.

Wednesday:
- Investigative camera work and line flushing at one of our commercial client's many properties.

There is significant aggregate and blockages in some of their underground storm lines. We found the mystery manhole that doesnt exist above ground, however it is the source of gravel filling the storm line downstream. There is a sanitary line that will need to be redone as it has significant sags as well as improper connections, and insufficient slope from the stack to the sanitary manhole.

Thursday & Friday:
- Scheduled saddle replacement with Right Underground Ltd. at an ongoing townhome complex AC waterline rehabilitation project.

The infrastructure was installed in the late 60's/early 70's... we think. No as builts are available and because the waterline is fiber and asbestos we cannot locate it. This is oneof the complex's we have had emergency water breaks at during the winter months so we are planning a full rehab project. We picked a pair of units halfway down the main for an exploratory dig to locate the main, while also maximizing our client's dollars by completing one of the 23 remaining saddle replacements needed at this complex at the same time. As soon as pressure from surrounding soil was relieved from the saddle it showed its failure. The tie bolts are so rotten the soil itself is holding them in place. This is the source of the ongoing underground water leaks at this particular complex. In and out in two days. Water service was only shut off for 3.5 hours, while we cleaned, installed temporary tracer wire to locate the main's direction 100' either way, repaired, recharged, and flushed the main. Compacted and backfilled like we weren't even there. Final topsoil and grass seed will likely be placed in the fall after we replace additional saddles in the complex.

Weekly recap:

Monday:
- Hauling materials for an absolute monster of a mound build.

(12) 13MT loads of material were hauled in for this one excluding the specialty septic sand. The specialty sand comes from a closed pit so the supplier must deliver with their trucks.

Tuesday:
- Stat holiday

Only the afternoon was spent in the yard loading, greasing, fuelling machines and working to prep for the rest of the week.

Wednesday & Thursday:
- Massive mound build

Built the biggest mound we've ever done to date. 10'x60' sand layer, which equates to a 30'x80' total footprint. Not to leave out there was only access from one long side of the mound. A little challenge keeps us honest!

Friday:
- Shuffling machines around, taking delivery of pipe orders, and a quick gravel touch up on some temporary holding tanks we inset for a client during the winter.

Saturday:
- Approach rough in

Straight forward approach build and culvert installation. Driveway gravelling will be coming next week.

Now it's time to grab some sunday rest and hit it again hard next week!

Well we've done it again. Somehow keeping up with the show and tell portion of the business is one of the hardest parts. Theres just no time to create a social media presence while we're full out in season pushing 80 hour weeks. But it is important for potential clients to see some legitimacy to our abilities, our equipment inventory, and the range of projects we are capable of. We're on our second memory card of drone footage already this year, but the time to edit is non existent.

So we're going to try something new for a while. A simple weekly recap with a brief description and a couple progress pictures. To start, here is some pictures of the last week alone.

Monday-Thursday:
- 2000gal cistern
- 1000gal septic
- Directional drilled delivery line to mound
- Complete mound build
- Trenching for power service

As always, everything is completely ready to function, all pumps, plumbing, electrical, and testing is finished, left stubbed up inside the foundation ready for plumbers to tie on and electricians to wire to the panel. Simple, easy, and ready for the next trades. This client had some delays and didn't get the walls poured in time, so we will be back to backfill in the next couple weeks.

Friday:
- Trenching services for a new pool house

The client is building a pool house/restroom facility for his backyard pool. He needed the sanitary sewer tied into the existing home before the backwater valve in the basement. He also needed (2) conduits ran. One to sleeve both hot and cold water lines from the home, and the other for future data/telecommunications/low voltage security feeds. Very sandy soil, meant shoring jacks installed the entire length of trench for safe pipe laying. Tunneling under the foundation and tying into existing under slab plumbing inside the home.

Saturday:
- Installation of a new septic delivery line

The client needed a new delivery line installed as the old one had significant sags and was installed improperly. A 180' hdpe delivery line was directional drilled into a splice pit against the tank to ensure perfect constant slope, and to minimize damage to the client's landscaped yard.

Well little Norah made the judgement call, it was time to upgrade and get a big girl trailer for this busy upcoming season. A BWS combo tilt with air ramps was her trailer of choice.

Another emergency water service repair completed. This is why we stress the importance and will not dig without secondary locates completed. A screw pile contractor on site was installing piles on Friday afternoon and put one right through the water service. Narrowly missing the sanitary sewer by an inch as well. Clients had water back on Saturday evening. The missing copper likely got wrapped around the flighting of the pile, ripped out of the tee and dragged downward, we never did find it. Supreme Vac & Right Underground nailed it as always.

We only bought our drone later on in the year of 2024, we promise a lot more content this year! Here's some of what we got!

On my toughest days, I reset myself by thinking about how little boy Pete would be over the moon just to have some dirt on his hands and a little under his fingernails everyday. Then there's days like today when all of those countless hours of sand box dreaming have become a reality. I still get just as excited dreaming about what's next as I did back then. Another one achieved today little Pete, keep on dreaming.

It's been a couple weeks of finishing off some time sensitive tasks before the frost dives! Today we are digging another set of test pits for a good client of ours. Something that sets us apart, we still take soil samples and permit systems late into the year. We freeze our fingers now, so that come spring time there's no delays and we are ready to install for our clients as soon as the frost comes out.
