Our newest addition to the local birds returning to the property: Blue Jays!

For years we have been trying to bring back the wild birds after they were pushed out by an over population of Magpies and Crows. Well last year, and this year, they are finally returning!

Introducing: Pardon! 🦃😍

She's a bit Sassy, Classy, and such a Lassie!

Joining our Sweetgrass Turkey Flock is this spunky Pure Miniature B*W Turkey Pardon!

Being a Miniature B*W Turkey, she is around the same size as our heritage Sweetgrass Turkeys who share the same Broad Breasted meat turkey trait. The difference? Her offspring crossed with a Sweetgrass Turkey will result in a faster growing poult with the same meat development as a B*W but the flavour of a Sweetgrass Heritage!

Standard sized B*W turkeys aren't able to breed naturally on their own most of the time and required assisted/ selective breeding, but the Mini version (Basically a normal sized turkey!) have the exact same growth rate but are indeed able to breed naturally unlike their massive growing counter parts.

Standard B*W often have health issue later down the road due to their massive size paired with their insanely quick growth rates! Just like Cornish Cross Chickens (Broilers) they can suffer from Heart Attacks, Joint issues, Strokes, and much more if not regulated feeding wise or harvested before their weight becomes too much for their bodies.

Miniature B*W can have the same health issues but at a fraction of the possibility to that of the Standard B*W. Unlike their counterparts, they stop growing once fully matured and the weight won't keep piling on. Plus they can breed naturally unlike their counter parts who often require selective assisted breeding for offspring which result in fast growing hefty birds who have time limits on them due to quick growth/weight gain.

Offspring between her and a Sweetgrass Tom can breed naturally or will be able to be harvested for a delicious meal at the 20-24 Week Mark ❤️

Yikes it sure was a chilly morning today! Fall is quickly approaching, and today's morning frost was happy to demonstrate it 🍁

All our birds are slowly entering into cold season mode, so egg laying is slowing down! We will post when extras are available for buying!

If your into water glazing (Water preserving eggs in their shells) feel free to ask if we can collect bloom intact eggs for you! (Unwashed / non-inspected).

In these photos- there are three purebred Sweetgrass turkeys. 2 Toms (Male) and 1 Hen (Female).

Pictured are Tom, Christmas, and Penny.

They all get excited and puff up once they see mealworm treats brought out for them.❤️ Love these guys so much for their personalities! The other Turkey Hens are more relaxed and laid back.

Guess what? We are adding a new Hen to the Turkey flock!

😉 Mix breed poults will be available if it works out with her! Her introduction will be coming shortly.

Absolutely one of my favourite chores to do is washing the hens eggs! I'm in love with all the colours they create!

Our eating eggs are priced at $5/Doz or $7/18pk for the 2026 season.
They sell out fast! 😱

As we wait for my stitches to heal, activities have come to a halt. We are hoping to be back up in action shortly with more posts!

Our Turkeys have shot back up into laying season it seems also! Reese has also decided to join them in their spontaneous decision to start laying up a storm as I'm healing from surgery.

🤦🏻‍♀️ I swear they plan around events like this...

Pictured is Tom our senior Sweetgrass Turkey who decided to chase Bull off his water dish. (Bull respects the birds - especially the Turkeys and Geese. He has learned his lesson the hard way from them🤣)

Who else can say one of their pets feeds them?

Well here's a Single one of Reese's eggs turned into an omelet! DELICOUS and nutritious! 🤤❤️

Her eggs are equivalent to 3 standard chicken eggs.

Thank you Reese for the egg offering! They taste scrumptious as always! (Can't beat the free range lifestyle)
