Our Turkeys have shot back up into laying season it seems also! Reese has also decided to join them in their spontaneous decision to start laying up a storm as I'm healing from surgery.

🤦🏻‍♀️ I swear they plan around events like this...

Pictured is Tom our senior Sweetgrass Turkey who decided to chase Bull off his water dish. (Bull respects the birds - especially the Turkeys and Geese. He has learned his lesson the hard way from them🤣)

Well here's a Single one of Reese's eggs turned into an omelet! DELICOUS and nutritious! 🤤❤️

Her eggs are equivalent to 3 standard chicken eggs.

It seems we have been getting this question asked a lot lately so here is the rundown:

Question: Why haven't Misty Doe Acres been offering the sale of BYM chicks/ Silkie Chicks much this year?

Answer: This year was very interesting to say the least. BYM chicks are not in demand this year so we haven't been loading up incubators with them unless requested. While our Silkie chicks/silkie hatching eggs are being claimed before they can even be posted or marketed.

We are still offering BYM/OE/EE hatching eggs, but we are closing down the incubators very soon.

When it comes to our Sweetgrass Turkey Poults - they too have been claimed before even able to post anything of them.

It's been a very crazy/ interesting year to say the least.

Meet Creamsicle! A F2 Silkie Cross hen hatched out this year in early January.

Her personality? Just like the Silkies but a bit more curious and energetic like a BYM.

Creamsicle is a great example of how stunning some crossbreeds look!

Another one of our F2 Silkie crosses came out looking like an Ayam Cemani to which there is none within their genetics. Just shows how much fun it is to mix and match within the flock if you enjoy a good mystery hatch!

Geese get a reputation for being mean... but not Reese!!!

She loves her human cuddles and protecting her flock. If it is about to rain or is time for bed - she honks and lets everyone in her flock know. This they listen to and head into their respective coop from free ranging.

Now she's the type of goose everyone loves to have! 🥰

This is a great example of her personality and also of how she was handled daily as a gosling to build such a strong trusting bond.
