Today we’re shining the spotlight on Vance, our General Manager at Big Rock ⭐

Vance plays a huge role in the success of our projects, making sure every job is organized, efficient, and running smoothly from the first site visit through to the final coat of sealer. His leadership and commitment to the team have made a lasting impact on both our work and our culture. It doesn’t hurt that he’s also the guy who keeps the crews fueled with ice-cold drinks on those hot days! 🧊🥤

When he’s not at Big Rock, Vance enjoys collecting and restoring old trucks — a hobby that keeps him just as busy outside of work!

Concrete is more than just cement 🪨

Concrete may look simple when it’s finished, but there’s a lot happening beneath the surface.

• Aggregate (Sand, gravel or crushed stone) - gives concrete its structure and strength.
• Water – starts the hydration process, allowing cement to chemically bond with the aggregate and giving concrete the ability to harden and gain strength
• Cement – binds the materials together.
• Air – helps concrete withstand freeze-thaw cycles by giving expanding water room to move

The quality of these materials, along with proper handling, placement, and finishing, all play a role in how concrete preforms over time.
