Well it's that time of year... here are our top tips and tricks to avoid Frozen Pipes this winter!
1) Insulate pipes in unheated areas of your home, such as attics, garages, and basements. Pipe Insulation is cheap and doesn't take long to install!
2) Homeowners should completely drain any outdoor water lines - including hose bibs, pool piping, sprinkler systems, etc.
3) If a deep freeze is in the forecast, it doesn't hurt to leave a faucet or two dripping inside. This may slow down the freezing process of water piping and possibly even prevent a burst-pipe situation.
4) Our 4th and final tip is become familiar with where your water shut off valves are located. We run into many clients that could have saved thousands of dollars in repairs if they just knew where the shut off valve was located before the emergency.
