What does life after competing at the national team level actually look like?

Darcy, Kirsten, and Brooke represented Olympic Industries at Game Plan Day in Canada, hosted by RBC, at the Vancouver session downtown. The day brought together Olympic and Paralympic athletes, current and retired, working through exactly that question.

Brooke was there in two roles: as part of the Olympic Industries team and as an athlete herself. She's currently on Canada's National Field Hockey Team.

Game Plan is Canada's total wellness and support program for national team athletes. Built to help them live healthy, balanced, and successful lives, both during their high-performance careers and beyond.

The team stopped by to connect with athletes and hear firsthand what that transition looks like.

That’s the mix on our trading floor.

And it’s what our team shared with students at the Simon Fraser University career fair.

What they have in common isn’t a background in wood.

It’s curiosity, drive, and a love of building relationships.

The students we met had all three.

We had sharp questions and real conversations, and heard from plenty of people figuring out where their skills could take them.

Charles Nwoye, Nick Wolf, and Marilyn Hollick recently spent the week at BCMC 2026 in Columbus, Ohio.

BCMC, hosted by SBCA and held alongside the NFC's Framer Summit, is where structural component manufacturers and framers meet the rest of their supply chain.

For a lumber trading company, few rooms matter more.

What stood out:

→ The conversations. We caught up with longtime partners and met plenty of new faces. Some things are just better said in person.

→ The education. The sessions were led by people doing the work every day, and they went deep. Our team came home with a lot to think about.

→ The show floor. Watching machinery run live shows how much precision goes into every truss and wall panel.

Every board we trade ends up somewhere.
At BCMC, we got to see where.

Olympic Industries is excited to welcome Brooke, Frank, and Caitlin to the team.

Brooke joins as a Trader Trainee, Frank as a Commodity Trader Intern, and Caitlin as a Logistics Coordinator Intern.

We're looking forward to their growth here, and to helping them get hands-on with the commodity industry and lumber trading as they settle in.

Five students. Five universities. One shared entry point into the lumber trading business.

Through Trucking HR Canada's Career ExpressWay Program, Olympic Industries welcomed Elena, Jack, Solomon, Mick, and Jonathan into hands-on roles supporting our trading, supply chain, and accounting functions.

The placements give students direct exposure to how a wholesale trading operation runs day to day. From how accounting supports in-house traders, to the mechanics of domestic and international supply chain activity.

For Olympic, the Student Work Placement Program has become a core part of how we build our talent pipeline: creating structured opportunities for students while strengthening our long-term hiring strategy.
