FPAC’s new Economic Impact Dashboard offers a helpful look at the scale of Canada’s forest products sector.

From jobs supported and GDP contribution to exports and lumber production, the dashboard brings together data that shows how deeply connected this industry is to communities, supply chains, and the broader Canadian economy.

For those working in forest products every day, it’s a reminder that the work happening across mills, transportation networks, trading desks, lumber yards, and customer relationships all contributes to something much larger.

A strong industry is built through many moving parts, and it’s encouraging to see that impact represented in a clear, accessible way.

We’re excited to welcome Jake, Jack, Jonathon, and Solomon to the team this summer.

Jake joins us as a new graduate Trader Trainee, while Jack, Jonathon, and Solomon are spending the summer with us before heading back to school in September.

Over the coming months, they’ll be learning the industry, working alongside teams across the office, and getting exposure to different parts of the business.

Looking forward to having them on the floor this summer.

Darcy and Kirsten recently attended the Commercial Real Estate Awards of Excellence (CREA) in support of AURA, whose work on our office was nominated for Best Tenant Improvement Over 10,000 SF.

AURA did an incredible job designing a space that reflects how our team works day-to-day — collaborative, connected, and built for growth. Great to see the project recognized alongside other outstanding work across the industry.

Members of our trading team attended the NAWLA Vancouver Regional Meeting this week.

The event featured a panel discussion on “Duties and Tariffs: Navigating New North America Trade Realities,” focused on the evolving trade landscape across North America and the impact policy shifts and tariffs continue to have on the wood products industry.

Great to hear different perspectives on the market and spend time catching up with others across the industry.

Today is International HR Day, and we want to recognize Kirsten and Darcy for the impact they have across the office every day.

From building and growing our internship and early-career programs, to supporting leaders, driving training and development initiatives, strengthening team culture, coordinating events, improving processes, and attracting top talent from across Canada, they play a major role in the growth and success of our organization.

A lot of the culture, energy, and support people feel on the floor starts with the work they put in every day, and it doesn’t go unnoticed.

Thank you both for everything you do for the team.

Marilyn, Nick, and Charles attended the MSR Annual Workshop last week.

A few days spent connecting with industry peers, both in sessions and on the course, sharing insights and staying current on developments across the MSR lumber space, particularly around grading consistency and performance standards.

Staying close to these conversations helps keep sourcing aligned with how MSR is actually being specified in the market.

Congratulations to Yolanda and Rick on completing Dale Carnegie’s Leadership Training for Managers course.

Over the past three weeks, they took part in training focused on communication, accountability, coaching, and leading effectively. Wrapping it all up with a final presentation to close out the program.

We’re proud to see our team continue investing in their growth, sharpening their skills, and bringing new ideas back to Olympic.

Congratulations, Yolanda and Rick! 👏

Programs like this provide a valuable perspective on the processes, products, and relationships that keep the industry moving.

The program combined classroom learning with hands-on industry exposure, including mill tours and sessions focused on the fundamentals of the wood products industry. A great opportunity to continue building knowledge, connect with others across the industry, and gain a closer look at the operational side of the business.
