Fireplace and tv feature wall done last Fall!! Being a 3-sided fireplace it was a new challenge for me as the entire upper portion had to be hung from the ceiling and back wall … that’s where the extra beefy GRK’s and plywood sheathing came in handy. Neat feature is the removable baseboards, which can cover the air intakes, for the seasons when the fireplace isn’t being used and the magnetic pushes that hold them in place!!

Fireplace and tv feature wall done last Spring for some great clients!! Used nickel-gap shiplap for the finish, a solid timber for the mantel, and laminated pine for the shelves. Hid all the cables and boxes yet easily accessible if needed!

This red beauty from finally went in!! She was sitting in the garage for several months while we finished up framing, all the rough-ins, insulation and vapour barrier and was now ready to go in. I lucked out that the boys who delivered the drywall from gave us a hand lifting this thing into place … and the clients love it!!

Just a quick little 2-pic update on a few projects going on … Keating Mechanical’s best looking cold storage ever built has its overhead doors now installed and is in the midst of interior painting while the Hutton addition project now has screw piles installed to China and is currently in grade beam mode!! Both projects were beyond delayed with permits but the cold storage is wrapping up just as the addition is beginning so things worked out pretty good as there’s no way I could wear the toolbelt on both had they started at the same time.

I present to you Tatiana!! This space has been talked about since early last Fall already and has gone through many changes in design … gonna guess almost 8. When it finally came time to get er done we put our brains together and came up with this design that put all other ideas to rest. Even after it was drawn up we still had to execute the idea which led to a few more meetings along the way. Each detail has a purpose and ties in with other details throughout the venue. She was finally completed yesterday and now Kelly counts down the days till she can load her up with flowers and anything else that’s requested for weddings and other big events!!

Here’s a long awaited progress video of the wedding venue over at as well as hearing my hardcore Mennonite accent 😂. Many of the interior details are explained throughout but there are also many more that there just wasn’t time for. Enjoy it and I’ll try to post a few more of these for each area of the build. This video was taken yesterday so besides painting that is currently happening you are all fully up to date on interior progress!!
