🚧 1,000,000 Tonnes and Counting! 🚧

A major milestone has been reached on the Highway 3 project in Taber as our crews have successfully placed over 1 million tonnes of Granular Base Course.

This achievement is a testament to the dedication, expertise, and relentless commitment of everyone involved in the project. A special thank you to our leadership team, Dylan Clark, Barry Harrison, and Ricky Gogowich, for their unwavering support and determination in helping drive this project forward to completion.

We would also like to thank Ledcor for their continued trust in Carmacks and for the strong partnership that has made this success possible. Together, we are building infrastructure that will serve Albertans for generations to come.

🚧Fresh concrete on 132 Avenue!🚧

Carmacks crews are hard at work pouring concrete on 132nd Avenue between 88 and 86th Street for the 132 Avenue East Collector Renewal.

This four-year project is currently in it’s third year of construction and is being completed for the City of Edmonton - Local Government through the Neighbourhood Renewal Program: https://www.edmonton.ca/transportation/on_your_streets/132-avenue-renewal

The project involves the full reconstruction of the 132nd Avenue collector roadway between Fort Road at the east and 97th Street at the west. Construction limits for this year are Delwood Road to 90th Street. The project’s scope of work includes the reconstruction of the roads, sidewalks and curbs within the project limits.

New infrastructure is also being constructed for the collector roadway, which includes:

- LIDs for stormwater retention
- New catch basins
- Bike paths
- Street lighting
- Landscaping
- Street furniture

We appreciate the hard work and dedication of our crew on site. It's great to see new developments in the community come to life!

On August 19, Carmacks Enterprises attended the Selections Career Support Services Career Fair. It was a privilege to meet so many individuals, hear their stories, and discuss the many opportunities available within our industry.

Events like this are a great reminder that talent comes in many forms, and sometimes all it takes is a conversation to discover someone's potential. The enthusiasm, curiosity, and genuine interest shown throughout the day were truly inspiring.

Building connections, sharing information, and helping people explore new career paths is one of the most rewarding parts of recruitment. Thank you to Selections Career Support Services for bringing together such an amazing group of people and creating opportunities that make a real difference.

We are excited to continue our longstanding relationship with the Alberta Indigenous Games and support an event that brings communities together while showcasing the talents and determination of Indigenous youth from across Alberta.

A special shoutout to our Estimating Manager, Amanda Vavrek. Through her ongoing support of the Alberta Indigenous Games, Amanda helps coordinate meals for participants and source archery equipment to meet growing demand. Her commitment plays an important role in creating an inclusive and rewarding experience for young athletes.

On August 6, members of our Shared Services teams had the opportunity to visit two City of Edmonton projects: 132 Avenue and Stage 3 of the Terwillegar Drive Upgrade.

Stepping onto active construction sites provided valuable insight into the planning, coordination, and teamwork required to deliver complex infrastructure projects. Our teams gained a greater understanding of the challenges field crews navigate every day, from evolving site conditions and safety requirements to maintaining schedules and quality standards.

The visit also highlighted the strong collaboration between field and office teams. Seeing the work firsthand helped connect the processes and support provided behind the scenes with the people and activities that bring projects to life.

A sincere thank you to our project teams for welcoming us to the sites, sharing their knowledge, and showcasing the incredible work being done. Opportunities like these strengthen our understanding, foster collaboration, and remind us that every role contributes to building better together.

Progress continues on the Terwillegar Drive Stage 3 Project, a collaborative effort between our Municipal and Bridges Business Units, with the Municipal team recently completing the first concrete pour on site.

This important milestone marks another step forward as construction activities continue to gain momentum through this pivotal stage of the project. Every achievement brings us closer to delivering critical infrastructure that will serve the community for years to come.

The project scope is extensive and includes major infrastructure upgrades such as:

🚧 8.5 km of road reconstruction and new alignments
🚧 Two major reconfigurations of intersections (adding lanes), repositioning and new minor traffic light-controlled intersections
🚧 One new four lane bridge crossing Anthony Henday
🚧 One new pedestrian bridge crossing Anthony Henday
🚧 Resurfacing the existing five lane bridge crossing Anthony Henday
🚧 600m of new trail, reconstructing curbs and gutters where required
