Step by Step guide for your generator panel
1. Confirm power outage
2. Turn off main breaker and all branch circuits in the house panel
3. Turn off generator breaker from panel and all branch circuits
4. Place generator a safe distance your home - with the exhaust pointing away from open windows and doors. Ensure breaker for 30-amp plug is in the off position
5. Start generator and let it run to warm up. Approximately 5 minutes
6. Attach generator extension cord to the generator with an inward push and gentle clockwise turn
7. Attach extension cord to the home power inlet box with an inward push and a gentle clockwise turn
8. Go back inside to the generator panel. Slide interlock exposing the on position of the generator breaker - turn generator breaker on
9. Turn on all branch circuits in the generator panel
Try to mindful of what is being used. Avoid using 2 heavy draw appliances at one time such as microwave, kettle, toaster, etc.
Power off sequence: Work in reverse starting at step 9
