White scale on the taps, spots on the dishes, soap that won't lather. If your softener is running and using salt but none of that is going away, the resin is probably worn out or coated with iron, and it can't soften anymore.

That's softener resin, and it's escaping into your plumbing.

It happens when old resin breaks apart or a part inside the softener tank cracks. Left alone, loose resin can clog aerators, showerheads, faucet cartridges and appliance screens.

Water pressure dropping all over the house? Check your softener. 🚿

When softener resin breaks down, the beads turn into fine particles that pack the tank like wet sand. Water has a harder time getting through, and you notice it at every tap.

Quick test: put your softener in bypass and run a tap. If the pressure comes back, the softener is the problem. STOP using the softener.

Hot water doesn’t wash grease away. It just moves the clog further down the pipe where it’s harder to reach and backs up anyway. We clear drains from $300 + HST (Mon-Fri).

One customer came to us after another company quoted thousands to replace “corroded” pipes under the basement floor. The real problem? A small clog. We cleared it for a few hundred dollars.

What's actually inside your water softener? 🧐

Millions of tiny resin beads. Hard water flows over them, they grab the calcium and magnesium, and soft water comes out the other side.

But resin doesn't last forever. Most wear out in 7-10 years, sooner on chlorinated city water or iron-heavy well water. When it goes, your softener can look fine from the outside while it quietly stops working.
