I had a great week in Vancouver attending and presenting at the 2026 Passive House Canada Conference. With Dave Fraser of Peel Passive House, I presented one of Canada's first public Institutional buildings to use Mass Timber and achieve Passive House Certification. I also accepted the formal PHI certificate. I came away impressed with the quality, scale and diversity of the PH projects that are being built nation wide. Most importantly, I left with a renewed commitment to Passive House as the most appropriate and effective approach to achieving low carbon and low energy buildings. The framework really can be applied to any building type, while producing a superior living environment for a very small premium in construction values. I like to make the case that if I carve 5% off your intended floor plan through good design, I can deliver a certified Passive House for the same budget as code level construction. Passive House is the future.
