Hydroseeding (or hydraulic mulch seeding, hydro-mulching, hydraseeding) is a planting process that uses a slurry of seed and mulch. It is often used as an erosion control technique on construction sites, as an alternative to the traditional process of broadcasting or sowing dry seed. The hydroseeding slurry is transported in a tank, either truck- or trailer-mounted and sprayed over prepared ground. Helicopters have been used to cover larger areas. Aircraft application may also be used on burned wilderness areas after a fire, and in such uses may contain only soil stabilizer to avoid introducing non-native plant species. Hydroseeding is an alternative to the traditional process of broadcasting or sowing dry seed. A study conducted along the lower Colorado River in Arizona, the United States found that hydroseeding could be used to restore riparian vegetation in cleared land. The slurry often has other ingredients including fertilizer, tackifying agents, fiber mulch, and green dye. History
The first commercial hydroseeder was invented in United States in the early 1950s and was used in the United Kingdom in the 1960s. Advantages

If planting a relatively large area, hydroseeding can be completed in a very short period of time. It can be very effective for hillsides and sloping lawns to help with erosion control and quick planting. Hydroseeding will typically cost less than planting with sod, but more than broadcast seeding. Results are often quick with high germination rates producing grass growth in about a week and mowing maintenance beginning around 3 to 4 weeks from the date of application. Fiber mulch accelerates the growing process by maintaining moisture around the seeds thereby increasing the rate of germination.

🚨 We have about 1 weeks left 🍂 ( around 3 october )for Hydroseeding and we will resume around first week of November for winter seeding 🌱 for growth in spring .

Dormant seeding is a strategy some contractors use in cold climates like Northern NB when they miss the normal fall window. Here’s the breakdown:

🌱 What Dormant Seeding Is
• Grass seed is applied late in the fall (after soil temperatures are consistently too cold for germination, usually below 10°C).
• The seed just sits in the soil all winter, “dormant,” until spring when the ground warms up and natural conditions trigger germination.

✅ Advantages
• Lets you get seed down before spring when soil is still too wet to work.
• Spring meltwater helps push seed into soil.
• Earlier germination in spring than if you wait to seed after the ground dries.
• Less competition from weeds compared to spring seeding.

⚠️ Risks / Considerations
• Seed must go down late enough (usually late October–November in Northern NB) so it doesn’t sprout before the ground freezes — if it germinates too early, frost will kill it.

A big thank you to René’s Lawn and Property Maintenance for having the area so well prepared and ready for us to come in and hydroseed! 👏🌱

Proper ground preparation is one of the most important steps for a successful lawn. When the soil is graded, loosened, and ready to go, it gives the hydroseed the best possible conditions to establish strong and healthy. 💦🌱

We appreciate the great work and are happy to have been part of the project!
