Oh, the “nonsense” door. The story behind the name came about by my teachers at Algonquin College while I was studying Heritage Carpentry and Joinery. The final project for the course was to recreate a heritage piece of our choosing. I came across this door in Montreal at McGill University. Due to the limited time frame and the immense detail of the door, all my teachers advised me against the project as it was “nonsense”. That only pushed me even more as I love a good challenge. Currently, the door is on display at Algonquin College’s Perth Campus and was featured in Lee Valley’s Fall 2019 catalog.
