IWCD's Nanaimo team tee'd off at Fairwinds Golf Club this year for the VICA Golf Tournament- an event we look forward to every single year.

There were some drives that split the fairway, and that some went looking for the parking lot. There were a few putts that dropped, and plenty didn't (we blame it on the beam, that can't be regulation!)
But somewhere between the birdies and the bogeys we are always reminded it's not about the number on the scorecard, but it's the Mulligans you make along the way.

Construction is underway on 35 new supportive homes in Nanaimo.

IWCD is building this five-storey development at 355 Nicol St. and 354/364 Haliburton St., with 35 studio homes for Snuneymuxw First Nation members and other First Nation, Métis and Inuit people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

The building has been designed in partnership with Snuneymuxw First Nation (SFN) to create culturally safe spaces, including a sacred garden.
SFN will provide 24/7 supports on-site, with occupancy expected in 2028.

IWCD is proud to announce our newest project: a brand new 35,500 sq ft warehouse facility for Nanaimo Pepsi. 💙

Using concrete tilt and steel construction, we're building a dedicated service shop for their trucking fleet, 8 loading bays, and office space across two levels, and approximately 3,600 sq ft of tenant improvements.

Happy Labour Day to the IWCD team and every trade that makes our work possible!

We hosted our trades appreciation BBQ on site at Bella Park in Royal Bay, and for the first time we went to new heights to pull it off- literally!
All our BBQ supplies got a lift by zoom boom up to the amenities building platform. We fed 100 guys between our crew and our subtrades, because good work deserves a good meal!

CR Horizon is complete, and true to its name, the views are just as spectacular as they sound!

This 88,000 sq.ft. wood-frame development brings 80 new homes to Campbell River.
30 two-bedroom units, 35 one-bedroom units, and 15 studios, all set above an above-ground parkade anchoring the building to this scenic coastal site.

We still think back to the raft slab pour for that parkade- 867 m³ of concrete in a single 25-hour pour!
From there it was framing, roofing, and drywall, followed by windows and doors. Every step, floor by floor, until the last coat of paint went on.

Before construction began on Braidwood Supportive Housing & Shelter, Elders, Matriarchs, and representatives from the K'ómoks, Pentlatch, Sathloot, and Sasitla First Nations held a Ground Blessing ceremony at the site on Braidwood Road in Courtenay, BC.

Jessie Everson of K'ómoks First Nation, was quoted in the Comox Valley Record: "The people that we have here with us from our community are the ones who are going to be helping connect this work, spreading eagle down, to spread a peace, a blessing amongst this project."

Forty years ago, IWCD started building on Vancouver Island with the mindset that trust is built through ex*****on not words.

Forty years later, that trust is still built the same way: one project at a time, and in many cases, the neighbourhoods people end up spending their lives in.

Royal Bay is one of those neighbourhoods- and Path Developments' Bella Park project sits right in the middle of it.

Ocean views out one side, forested trails on the other, running and biking routes woven through the area, sandy beaches a short walk away, and schools close enough that morning drop-off doesn't eat into the day. It's about as "Vancouver-Island" as a community gets.

Forty years in, this is still the part of the job we love most: creating places like this for people to come together, and knowing we had a hand in it.

IWCD knows that every good project begins with good communication.

It starts with the client sharing the vision they want to bring to life. Then comes the collaboration between the architect and the project managers, translating that vision into plans. That message starts to multiply- dozens of trades on dozens of schedules, each one needing precise direction on where to be and when.

Like conducting a symphony, every trade is reading from the same sheet, coming in on cue, trusting that the section before them played their part on time. Drywall waits for electrical. Roofing waits for framing. Everyone working in harmony.

Path Developments Bella Park project is almost ready for a standing ovation.
After months of everyone playing their part on schedule, the project has moved into its finishing stage, and completion is closer than ever.
