Construction is underway on 22 new Complex Care homes in Nanaimo.

IWCD has begun work on this three-storey development at 1850 Boxwood Rd., with 22 studio units that each include a kitchenette and private bathroom.
The homes are for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness who have complex needs and require additional support to maintain their housing.

Residents will have 24/7 staff support from a non-profit operator, with health services provided by Island Health.
The project is expected to be completed in 2028.

What started as a small family operation in Nanaimo in 1986 has grown into a 140-person team across two offices, with hundreds of projects and decades of partnerships behind us.
This is a thank-you to everyone who's been part of it: the crew that shows up every day, the trade partners who've been with us through hundreds of projects, and the clients who've kept coming back.

A good time for a great cause!

VICA Women in Construction Nanaimo, recently hosted an event to raise money for 'Honour the Work'- a BC Construction Association program that puts STEAMS kits into K-5 classrooms.
Each kit is turnkey, hands-on, and includes a set of diverse children's books, all built around the BC curriculum.
The goal is to reach 500 classrooms and 21,000+ students across the province.

IWCD is excited to announce that we will be beginning construction on Braidwood Supportive Housing & Shelter, in partnership with Pacific Swell Development Inc. and BC Housing.

This two-building community services complex includes a 4-storey supportive housing building (25,142 sqft) with 70 studio units and a 2-storey shelter building (22,914 sqft) with 73 shelter beds and space to add as many as 30 more mats in an amenity space during inclement weather.

The housing building features a commercial kitchen and dining area, meeting rooms, and office spaces. The shelter building includes a flexible multi-purpose area that will be used for meetings and programs

Nothing says thank you like tacos with the whole crew!💙

Last week we hosted a trades appreciation BBQ at Anchor (formerly Esquimalt Terrace for those of you that have been following along!) in Esquimalt, to say a big thank-you to everyone who's been on site.

Anchor is a six-storey, 108,200 sqft wood-frame rental building bringing 135 homes, one, two, and three-bedroom units, plus two live/work commercial spaces to the neighbourhood. After months of framing and finishing, it's now in the home stretch.

A 21,000+ sq ft. Showroom, 10-bay service shop, 4 wash and detail bays, underground parkade, customer lounges, and private second-floor offices - Nanaimo Nissan is getting closer every day. 💙

Built using a combination of tilt-up and steel construction, this facility is designed for every part of their daily operations, from service bays and offices to the showroom floor.

Year after year, showing up to this tournament feels like one of the highlights of our calendar.

Since 2018, this tournament has brought the community together at Nanaimo Golf Club to raise over $4 million for youth programs, healthcare, and local initiatives across Vancouver Island.
Created in honour of Tom Harris, the event carries forward the same spirit he was known for: that showing up for your community is just part of being here.

IWCD has been fortunate to be part of this almost every year, and it never gets old. There's something about being on that course with people who genuinely care about this place that sticks with you long after the round ends.

Thank you to Tom Harris Community Foundation for planning such a great event year after year, and to every sponsor, volunteer, and player who came out to support it.

Introducing the Arden Clubhouse.

The 8,200 sqft amenities building at Royal Commons is officially complete, and the wait was worth it.

A fully equipped gym. A dining hall and kitchen. A gathering room. An outdoor patio kitchen. Spaces built for the people who will actually live here.

This building ran parallel to the main build the entire time, its own project with its own crew, its own timeline. It turned out exactly as intended.

The Royal Commons Multi-Unit project is officially complete!

Four storeys. 69 residential suites across six layouts, from studios to two-bedroom + dens. Nine ground-level commercial units. Underground parking.
A full mixed-use build, from the ground up.
Located in beautiful Royal Bay, Colwood, BC.

IWCD is proud of all the the skilled trades and partners who helped bring this project to life. It takes an incredible team to execute a project like this and we’re thankful for the care and collaboration that went into every detail.
