It's crazy how many skylight leak calls we get over the winter months

The biggest problems we find, more often then not is over sized water run off folds, they are a breeding ground for moss that holds moisture, compromising the corner flashing years down the road. These ones are filled solid with silicone. Nothing can grow inside.

Second biggest problem is hiding the top side flashing with a shingle. You don't want anything that can deteriorate over time and compromise what should be a metal on metal corner.

Third would be not leaving a water run off Chanel on the side of the skylight helping to prevent the water from trying to work its way underneath your shingles.
