As Muskoka starts to warm up, it’s important to remember that ice conditions are changing quickly. What looks solid may not be safe.

Bubblers play a crucial role this time of year by keeping water moving around docks and boathouses, helping to prevent costly structural damage caused by ice expansion. But they also create areas of open water that can be dangerous if not properly marked.

That’s why every bubbler system should be paired with a visible blue light, and a clearly posted “Open Water” sign.

These safety measures aren’t just best practice, they help protect your property AND keep others safe from unexpected hazards on the ice.

If you have a dock or boathouse, now is the time to ensure your bubbler system is running properly and that all your safety markers are in place.
