Rideau Hall, construit en 1838, est la résidence officielle du gouverneur général du Canada et un lieu d’importance patrimoniale nationale.

Au fil des années, le bâtiment a fait l’objet de nombreuses interventions visant à préserver son caractère architectural et à répondre à l’évolution de ses besoins.

EVOQ a contribué à plusieurs projets de restauration et de réhabilitation, notamment à la conservation de la maçonnerie extérieure, des fenêtres et des toitures, appuyée par des relevés détaillés de l’état du bâtiment et des analyses des matériaux.

Rideau Hall, built in 1838, is the official residence of the Governor General of Canada and a place of national heritage significance.

Over the years, the building has undergone numerous interventions aimed at preserving its architectural character and responding to its evolving needs. EVOQ has contributed to several restoration and rehabilitation projects, including the conservation of exterior masonry, windows, and roofs, supported by detailed condition assessments and material analyses.

💡Le projet de conservation de l'église du Très-Saint-Sacrement mis en lumière par Marianne Leroux

Marianne Leroux, architecte et associée chez EVOQ, a récemment accordé une entrevue à Radio-Canada Québec au sujet des travaux de conservation en cours à l'église du Très-Saint-Sacrement, à Québec.

Les travaux comprennent le démontage sélectif et le remontage de l'enveloppe de pierre, ainsi que le renforcement structural discret des clochers. Ces interventions sont essentielles à la protection de l'intérieur de l'église et marquent une étape importante vers la réouverture du bâtiment au public.

Nous collaborons avec Tetra Tech, responsable de l'ingénierie structurale.

💡 Spotlight on the Église du Très-Saint-Sacrement conservation project with Marianne Leroux

EVOQ architect and associate Marianne Leroux was recently interviewed by Radio-Canada Québec about the ongoing conservation of the Église du Très-Saint-Sacrement in Québec City.

The ongoing work includes selective dismantling and rebuilding of the stone envelope and discreet structural reinforcement of the bell towers. These works are essential to the preservation of the church’s classified interiors and mark an important step towards the building’s reopening to the public.

We are collaborating with Tetra Tech, which is handling the structural engineering.

À l'occasion de la Journée mondiale de l'architecture, nous avons envie de parler de ce qui nous anime véritablement chez EVOQ.

Nous croyons que l'architecture ne devrait jamais s'imposer à un lieu, elle devrait en émerger. Qu'il s'agisse d'un bâtiment patrimonial, d'habitations dans le Nord ou d'un espace façonné aux côtés d'une communauté inuite ou des Premières Nations, chaque projet porte une histoire, une culture, une façon d'habiter le monde qui lui est propre. Notre travail commence par l'écoute de cette réalité, bien avant de prendre le crayon.

Cette écoute est un processus partagé, qui dépasse notre équipe seule. Les clients, partenaires et communautés avec qui nous travaillons nous poussent à voir plus loin, à remettre en question nos acquis et à viser plus haut. C'est grâce à eux que notre pratique continue d'évoluer.

🏛️ Bonne Journée mondiale de l'architecture à toutes celles et ceux qui, comme nous, croient que l'architecture doit refléter les personnes, les communautés et les lieux qu'elle sert.


On World Architecture Day, we wanted to share what really drives us at EVOQ.

We believe architecture should never be imposed on a place; it should emerge from it. Whether we’re working on a heritage building, housing in the North, or a space shaped alongside an Inuit or First Nations community, every project carries its own history, culture and way of relating to place. Our work starts with listening to that reality before we ever put pen to paper.

Listening is a shared process shaped by more than just our team. The clients, partners, and communities we work with push us to see further, rethink assumptions, and aim higher. Our practice keeps evolving because of them.

🧡 Journée nationale de la vérité et de la réconciliation

Le 30 septembre marque au Canada la Journée nationale de la vérité et de la réconciliation. Cette journée rend hommage aux survivantes et survivants des pensionnats, à leurs familles et à leurs communautés. Elle honore aussi la mémoire des enfants qui ne sont jamais revenus.

C'est un moment pour écouter, apprendre et reconnaître l'histoire douloureuse des pensionnats, ainsi que ses répercussions toujours présentes aujourd'hui.

🧡 National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada. The day honours the children who never returned home from residential schools, as well as Survivors, their families and communities.

It is a time to listen, learn and acknowledge the painful history of residential schools and its ongoing impacts.

🚧 Les travaux de restauration de la tour Martello du Fort Frederick, à Kingston, sont amorcés!

Avec EVOQ comme architecte du patrimoine, l'équipe de projet s'est récemment réunie sur le site pour souligner le lancement des travaux de restauration et de conservation de ce lieu historique important.

Construite en 1846 dans le cadre du système de défense du port de Kingston, la tour est un élément marquant du secteur riverain du centre-ville.

Nous travaillons en collaboration avec Blackwell.

Nous avons hâte de voir le projet prendre forme!


🚧 Construction is underway on the restoration of Fort Frederick Martello Tower in Kingston!

With EVOQ as Heritage Architect, the project team recently gathered on site to mark the start of the restoration and conservation of this important historic landmark.

Originally constructed in 1846 as part of Kingston’s harbour defence system, the tower is a prominent feature of the downtown waterfront.

We are working in collaboration with Blackwell.

We look forward to this project take shape on site!

🚒En chantier : Caserne de pompiers, communauté anishnabe de Lac Simon

Lors d'une récente visite de chantier, l'équipe d'EVOQ a pu constater l'avancement des travaux : la structure de bois lamellé-collé prend forme, les poteaux et les poutres s'assemblent à la grue pour former l'ossature apparente de la nouvelle caserne.

La caserne répondra notamment aux besoins grandissants de la communauté de Lac Simon, en pleine croissance démographique, tout en assurant la couverture du service de protection incendie du secteur de Louvicourt.

Le projet est réalisé pour la communauté anishnabe de Lac Simon, en collaboration avec Services aux Autochtones Canada.

🚒 Under Construction: Fire Station for the Anishnabe Community of Lac Simon

During a recent site visit, EVOQ’s team had the opportunity to observe the construction progress. The glulam timber structure is taking shape as columns and beams are assembled by crane to form the exposed framing of the new fire station.

The facility will respond to the growing needs of the Lac Simon community, which is experiencing sustained population growth, while ensuring fire protection coverage for the Louvicourt area.

The project is being carried out for the Anishnabe community of Lac Simon in collaboration with Indigenous Services Canada.

🏆 Nous sommes fiers d'annoncer que le projet d'aménagement communautaire pour le secteur Kauatshinakanashkasht, développé pour Innu Takuaikan Uashat mak Mani-utenam (ITUM), a obtenu la certification Or aux prix INT Design!

Inspiré du concept d'écoquartier, ce plan intègre les pratiques culturelles et communautaires innues au-delà des piliers classiques. Une démarche immersive et participative incluant des rencontres avec les aînés et artisans, et ateliers de cocréation, a permis d'ancrer le design urbain dans les valeurs et les savoirs de la communauté.

Réalisé en collaboration avec Atelier Urbain (urbanisme), 2Architectures (architecture de paysage) et Consultations O’yenhra’ (collaboration autochtone-allochtone), avec EVOQ au pilotage du volet architecture.

🏆 We're proud to announce that the community development project for the Kauatshinakanashkasht sector, developed for Innu Takuaikan Uashat mak Mani-utenam (ITUM), has received Gold certification at the INT Design Awards!

Inspired by the eco-neighborhood concept, this plan integrates Innu cultural and community practices beyond the classic pillars. An immersive and participatory approach, including meetings with elders and artisans, and co-creation workshops, helped ground the urban design in the community's values and knowledge.

Carried out in collaboration with Atelier Urbain (urban planning), 2Architectures (landscape architecture), and Consultations O’yenhra’ (Indigenous–non-Indigenous collaboration), with EVOQ leading the architectural design.
