🛑 The True Cost of "DIY" Electrical Work: Why Cheap Can Get Expensive Fast
​With so many tutorials online, it’s tempting to think, "I can handle this quick electrical project over the weekend."
​While painting a room or building a deck are great weekend projects, messing with your home's electrical system is a completely different ballgame. One minor mistake behind a closed wall can lead to serious hidden dangers.
​Here are the 4 most common DIY electrical mistakes we see, and why they end up costing homeowners more in the long run:

​1. The "Wrong Size" Wire Gamble 📏
​The Mistake: Using whatever leftover wire is lying around the garage to add a new outlet or light fixture.
​Why it’s dangerous: Circuits are carefully balanced. If you put a wire that is too thin onto a high-amperage circuit, the wire will choke the electricity, overheat, and melt its own insulation long before the circuit breaker ever trips.
​The Cost: Having to tear open drywall later to replace melted lines.

​2. Overcrowding the Electrical Box 📦
​The Mistake: Stuffing too many wires into a single plastic or metal wall box just to get a new switch to fit.
